Chapter One
Soroya"Has anyone seen my keys?" I shout, searching through my purse. Bucky walks by me and tosses the keys in the air, and I catch them with a grateful smile his way. "Boys, come on, you're gonna be late."
Stevie groans from the table, his eyes half open, his voice groggy. "It's too early."
Liam nods, drinking a glass of orange juice. "The world shouldn't start before at least eight in the morning."
I shove my keys in my purse and walk over towards them, kissing them both on the head while saying: "Unfortunately that's not the world we live in. Livy! Make sure the boys don't fall asleep again, they need to be out of here in thirty minutes."
I hear grumbling from the living room, then: "Fine, but I refuse to act as their alarm clock for the next year and a half."
"What time do you need to be at the hospital?"
"An hour."
"Make sure you aren't late either."
"Mom, I'm an adult, I am capable of getting to my job on time."
I gesture over my shoulder to the still half awake boys at the kitchen table. "They're adults, too, forgive me for trying to be thorough."
I tap on my Kimoyo Beads to check the time and curse, slinging my purse over my shoulder. "Bucky? The meeting starts in twenty minutes, we gotta go."
"I know, I know. Livy lost her badge."
I sigh. "Again?"
"Please don't start, Mom." Livy begs.
"Ha! I found it!" Bucky cheers, appearing a second later with our daughter, dressed in a doctors coat, a stethoscope around her neck, her badge now attached to her pocket. I never get tired of seeing her wearing her uniform, it makes me so proud.
Bucky kisses Livy's head, kisses the boy's heads, then nods to me, grabbing his coat. "Alright, let's go."
"Don't forget to lock the door when you guys leave!" I shout as we walk through the front door.
"We got it, Mom!" Livy says a little exasperated.
"And eat something before you go!"
Livy groans loudly as a reply, walking over to the door and shutting it abruptly, her annoyed grumbling audible from the other side.

The Avengers base was completed about a week ago, as was the Institute for the Enhanced and Gifted and the enhanced prison in New Asgard. The base is not as large as the base Thanos destroyed in New York, but that's mostly because we don't have rooms for people to live in like that base did. When you first walk into the base, you enter the security area, which scans your face to ID you. Once you pass that, you go through a long hallway, with doors lining it that lead to three different records rooms, a weapons room, a break room, and a storage room. At the end of the hall is an intersection that leads to four doors: one leads to a large common area, one leads to a training area, one to our main conference room, and the last to Sam and my shared office. There's a door connecting our office to the conference room, it's the one we always use to enter our meetings. Attached to the base is a hanger filled with Quinjets, cars, motorcycles, and even a tank.
"Morning Soroya, Mr. Barnes." Suzanne DiForte greets with a warm smile. Sam and I hired her as our executive assistant a little over two weeks ago. She's twenty five years old, is half Mexican half Italian, was born in France, has flowing brown wavy hair, light brown eyes, a heart shaped face, and has the ability to multiply her bodies. She can multiply into five at most, making her the perfect assistant.
