Despite being in the infirmary for several days, Harry's head throbbed incessantly. Madam Pompfrey frequently had Harry drink a concoction. If Harry was not in agony, he would have been greatly repulsed by the brew and believe Snape had a hand with the making of it. Alas, it was not the case. Ron and Hermione visited him faithfully each day after classes. They would talk (Hermione reminding all the schoolwork Harry had missed and Ron recounting all the pranks that have been played). On one occasion, Ciel visited Harry. Unlike Ron and Hermione, Ciel didn't hesitate as he crossed the threshold that separated Harry's room from the main hallway of the infirmary."Dumbledore is working diligently to find the reasons of the wandering dementor," Ciel prefaced.
"What are your thoughts?" Harry asked, sensing there was subtext beneath the statement.
"It has to involve Sirius Black. One must be daft to think he isn't part of it," Ciel replied.
Harry nodded.
"Yes, your right. Everyone keeps buzzing about it. But is the dementor on our side or Black's?"
"It is on our side but did not get permission to seek the murder beyond Azkaban," Ciel informed.
"Well, Dumbledore will give the Ministry of
Magic an earful then," Harry remarked with a weak chuckle."Perhaps. What do you know of Black?" Ciel asked.
"Nothing more than everyone else if not less," Harry answered.
"Would you be willing to tell me if anything new comes?" Ciel requested.
"Why?" Harry asked, genuinely curious.
A foreign look glossed over Ciel's exposed eye.
"Such mystery as this pesters me to no end. Once it is solved, I shall be nearer to my rest," he quietly responded.
The answer threw Harry off but before he could prod for clarification, Madam Pompfrey escorted Ciel out.
"By the druids' beards! Hasn't anyone have the sense enough not to bother patients?!" the nurse complained.
"I'm sorry Madam Pompfrey. I was simply worried sic-er- so much about Harry. Please don't ban me and you can put time limits on next time!" Ciel pleaded as his whole demeanor changed.
The nurse softened and agreed to the proposal. Harry stared, bewildered. Exactly who was Ciel Phantomhive?
On the day Harry was released from the hospital wing, he learned that his big but harmless friend was to put on trial. Of course Hagrid was in this predicament because of Draco's hippogriff incident. It wasn't Hagrid's fault though. Draco made the creature angry and subverted his well-deserved outcome on Hagrid. Becuase of some ridiculous law system that was established (Hermione had explained it later) and with the immense influence of the Malfoy family, a hippogriff's life was on the line. Hagrid's teaching position was also suspended and Professor Michaelis took over. Thankfully, the teacher still continued to involve living creatures in the classes instead of simply doing abstract nonsense with quills and paper that any other professor would have entailed.
Not all was gloom in young Harry's life. Christmas time had come that released the school from all tension. Everywhere there was some signs of Christmas. Even Snape's potion room had a faint smell of peppermint and later a small conifer tree tucked snugly in a corner, no doubt snuck in by the headmaster himself.
On Christmas morning, Harry was pleasantly surprised to find a Firebolt broomstick addressed to him. His friend didn't share the same enthusiasm however. Hermione declared the gift was suspicious as the giver's name was absent. Ron defused the incoming fight unwrapping a familiar-looking package.
