There was not much left in the this world that Snape loved. Night was one of the last; the darkness wrapped Severus gently while the stars gently lit the world, a stark contrast to the evasive and brashness of the sun. Severus almost found himself waltzing through the castle while he made sure no gremlins were about past curfew. At last he checked his own House. He scanned the each bed and practically jumped in triumph when he saw two unoccupied beds.
"Mister Goyle, who sleeps in those beds?" he asked, severely.
"That one is Draco's. In that corner is Phantomhive's," the bulky boy said.
Snape raised an eyebrow. An interesting pairing to be missing. He sighed and charged the remaining boy to stay or points would be deducted. He briskly went out and pondered why those two left. On his way out, he met Minerva.
"Severus, are you missing students?" she inquired.
"Malfoy and Phantomhive," Snape said clipped.
"Look for Harry, Ronald, and Hermione if you would," she requested.
Severus gave a curt nod and descended down the moving stairs. He suspected the Gryffindor troublemakers be involved with his charges.
Soon, Snape found himself in a humiliating situation. A child had immobilized him (temporarily, he hoped). Before that, he had found a cloak that was doubtlessly Potter's as he had seen it worn by another in his youth. He contemplated what was to be done to it when he heard yelling and screaming of children. He hid and watched until that fool, Lupin realized he had forgotten to take the potion. How could one not take the substance that Snape had worked so hard to concoct? A terrible mistake he made when he revealed himself. Granger casted a spell that Severus was certain was not sanctioned-in fact the whole matter at hand was not sanctioned.
His constraints lasted half an hour after Phantomhive left, the only other unaccounted person. After he regained his mobility, he walked to the clearing from the woods. He realized it was already dawn when the blasted sun blinded Snape. Angrily, he made a detour which lead to the quidditch field.
"Bloody sun!" Severus cursed.
"Hun, what's so bad about the sun?" someone asked.
It took a moment for Snape to register the voice. He frowned.
"It's you," he said.
"Yes, it's me, fabulous Grell Sutcliff!"
The gall that the person had to be happy made Severus want to lose his sanity.
"Hello again. I suppose you're looking for your students. One will never return from this world nor will return from the past, present, or future," the gremlin said with a wide smile.
Before Severus was about to cast a spell on him, he noticed the redhead sitting on a gravestone. Snape looked at the inscription on the marker.
Draco Lucius Malfoy
June 5, 1980- June 1, 1993
He stared at it for a long time. No, it can't be. Malfoy was just fine this morning. Phantomhive must have convinced Malfoy to come out here, and he murdered him. He quickly went off resolved that he was going to find him. He saw him and Michaelis walking toward the Whomping Willow tree.
"Stop right there! Phantomhive what have you done?" he demanded.
"Malfoy insulted the Phantomhive name," he Phantomhive responded.
"You murderer! I'll make sure you won't live. Michaelis are you also with that wretch? If so then you'll meet the same fate!" Snape said.
Before he could blast those two to pieces, Michaelis grabbed Severus' dominant hand and yanked his arm backwards.
"Now, now, no need to be so hasty. Mr. Phantomhive is innocent, and if you wish to argue then you'll be spelling your own doom," Michaelis whispered in his ear.
He then dropped Snape's arm and continued following Phantomhive to the tree. Severus fumbled with his left hand to retrieve his wand and casted a rudimentary spell on his broken arm. It was not enough to heal properly only enough for his intended functions. With that. he went to the tree. Phantomhive and Michaelis were waiting outside of the tree. He was about to confront them again, when he saw a cloak. It must have been Potter's. He quickly covered himself with it and went only to be greeted with the sight of the three most wretched children fin the world along Lupin and Black. He discarded the cloak to draw out his wand for attack but blacked out from Granger.
