The day finally went to an end. Just my luck, Mary-Lynn was in ALL of my classes. Yep! All 6 of them! The bus was loading and lucky for me, I wrote my bus number down on a sticky note.
"Cassie!" Mary-Lynn asked me to sit with her and I felt, again, like I had to. The bus finally came to her stop, which was before mine, and she climbed over me, again. The side of her house blew my mind. Her house was HUGE! It was as big as a mansion! Maybe it was a mansion, I dunno, but I do know that after today I realized I'm definitely not "Mary-Lynn material". I don't know what "the girls" are gonna do when they find out. Although I think Gwen and Hallie already can tell.
"Hello Cassie!" my mother said as she cooked dinner. "Hey." I said dropping my bookbag next to the door. "That doesn't go there, Cass. But anway, how was school?" "It was just another day that I'll pray I will forget." "Cassie!" my mother scolded. My day went on. I facetimed Hannah, ate dinner, and went to sleep. I was completely dreading school the next day, let alone the bus.
The next day rolled around and I was completely depressed about it. "Meet new people!" my Mom yelled as I walked to the bus. That was the reason why all the kids were laughing as I got on the bus. "Cassie! Sit with me!" Mary-Lynn told me all about her day at the mall with "the girls" the WHOLE way to school. The day was a little better than yesterday, but I still couldn't stand Ms. Olsen. I know she hates me.
Lunch was almost as painful as yesterday. Except for this. "So girls, are we going to the annual fall JH party Friday night?" Mary-Lynn announced. "Yes!' all of "the girls" murmered. I looked down. They must've thought that made me feel bad. "Oh, Cassie! The annual fall JH party is for all JH students and of course, everyone who's everyone, goes. It's Friday night from 7:00- 10:00. You should totally come!" "I uhh, don't really know. I'm pretty sure my Mom planned this thing that night. I always have to go to....things." I was so bad at lying, but how else was I supposed to get out of a party that I didn't want to go to? I'm so not ready to be JH party material!
I got off of the bus and Mom asked me about my day. "This girl, Mary-Lynn invited me to a party at the mall..." I mumbled. "REALLY?! Honey, that's wonderful!" You could tell she really wants me to have some friends. "It's not her party. It's just a party for middle schoolers." "Well are you planning on going?" Going? I wasn't even considering it. "It's nothing special. I really need to do homework and stuff on that night. And talk to Hannah....." I slowly backed myself out of the party. "Cassie, Hannah is in Ohio. I know she's your irreplacable best friend, but she's not here." I could barely even process those sentences. I stormed off and cried in my pillow.
Guess what day it is? Friday. The bad Friday. Not the one where you can go home and watch you favorite T.V series, but the one where your Mom forces you to go to a mall party that you never even agreed on.
Loud music and disco lights blaring in my face. I walked around hopelessly, but couldn't find anything to keep me occupied for three hours. "There you are, Cassie! Hey girls, look it's Cassie!" Mary-Lynn found me. Oh, no anything but that! "So, you guys wanna go dance or find people we know or something?" Mary-Lynn suggested. "Sure! Let's dance" Sophia said. "I'm going to go find other people. I'm not much of a dancer." Gwen said trying to get out of something like I do. I stayed because, what else was I going to do without Mary-Lynn and her friends? "I Love your dress, Cassie." Mary- Lynn commented. "Thanks. Your's is pretty too." I was trying to be polite just because. She patted her dress in a bashful manner. "I know. Where did you get your's from." "I uhh don't really know. I think my Mom got it at a cosignment shop or something." I replied looking down at my dress. Hallie giggled. "Hallie!" Sophia nudged her. "I like it too." Sophia saved. "How about you go get us some punch?" Mary-Lynn asked me. "Umm, sure." I left the dance floor and went to get some punch. "Oh gosh," I said. Some guy had bumped into me. "Hey." he said. "Hi." I continued walking away pushing my hair behind my ear. " Aren't you the new girl?" He followed me. "I guess." I said, not wanting to talk to some random dude about my life. "I just saw you in a couple of my classes and thought I should say hi." "Okay." I reached the punch table. He poured a glass for me. "Can I help you, random person?" I said louder. "Hey, no need to shout." He grabbed my hand and snatched a picture of us together, so then I smacked him. I ran off to the mall entrance and dialed Mom's number. "Mom can you pick me up? I don't feel so well."
The car pulled up and I got in. I checked my instagram and saw a request. It was the guy who took the picture. I looked at his username and suddenly relized, it was Josh.
