Demon

"Eve...?" Garry whispered.

Yes. He remembered. The girl he met and promised to protect till she found her parents. Where was she now? Why was he alive? Did the strange man, who claimed to be Eve's grandfather, not kill him?

"Ah...I shall answer your questions,Young one." A voice chuckled. In the darkest corner of Garry's bedroom, a tall figure stepped out.

"Who are you?" Garry asked.

"Im...your saviour, a Demon." He smiled, revealing fangs in his top row of pearly white teeth. "But you can just call me, Carl."

Garry was not very surprised. He had seen enough weird things in the museum so having meet a demon was just another trivial matter.

*clears throat* "So...as you know, Eve is...dead." Carl snapped his finger and a cushioned chair appeared for him to seat on. "And I can feel that you want to save her, don't cha?" Sipping a cup of tea which he got in a flash with a whistle. "But...we can make a deal. A deal that might prevent Eve's death."

"Why should I believe you?" Garry frowned.

"Its really your decision...you know." He grinned, smacking his lips. "Nice tea..."

Garry shifted uncomfortably in his bed. " But..how would it benefit you?"

"Right before Eve's mother got married, when she was still a little girl, her father(the man you saw) was strangely obsessed in pretty things. He swore to make his daughter, Sophie, into a doll which was something that could have everlasting beauty." The now empty tea cup in his hand disappeared in a dark puff of smoke. "Sophie's mother returned to save her with the help of Edward(Eve's dad) as an angry spirit. However, they failed and Sophie was made into a doll. Sophie's mother then signed a contract with me to exchange the life of her husband's with her daughter's, with the price that Sophie's mother could never reincarnate (to remain in the underworld forever) and Sophie's dad's soul belongs to me. So hooray! Sophie was saved and she lived happily ever after with Edward. On the other hand, Sophie's father spent time in my world to experiment further. He made another Sophie( the lady you saw in the white dress). But that did not satisfy him. He wanted to make more beautiful dolls. So he created the hallway of dolls in another dimension in your world(with my help of course) . As you remember, there were lots of dolls right? They were actually all real little girls. He killed all of them, without my permission actually."

"No...no wonder there so many unknown cases of missing children.." Garry finally understood, he finally recalled seeing the dolls' familiar faces, all appeared on the newspapers.

"The Superiors were really unhappy about it." The demon sighed. " Apparently, Sophie's dad had messed up the death records and I had partial fault for not holding on properly to the soul ive taken in. The Heads demands me to return him to Hell and of course, I shall lose my ownership of him. So the deal is that I will turn back a considerable amount of time, but I only have that power if you sacrifice a year of your life(rewinding of time requires the demon to consume some human life) , so that you can save Eve and I will do my job. How's that?"

"Deal."
