Eve

The mystery of the deep sea

"Help! Somebody! Anyone!"Eve broke out in screams. She couldnt take it anymore. She felt trapped. She wanted to get out.

Eve's neat combed hair was now in a slight mess and strands of it were plastered against her flushed cheeks. Her legs were aching from walking and her feet were painful in the newly bought shoes. She removed the highheeled shoes and started walking only in her long socks.

Just then,she saw the window she passed by many times when running around,had blue ink flowing down the window frame.

"Strange...it wasnt here that time.." Eve stepped closer to take a look and suddenly, a loud bang came from the other side,as if someone hit the window really hard with his hand. Eve fell back as she lost her footing and landed heavily on her back.

"Ow...what was that ?!"

She rubbed her sore back and stood up again. It was then she saw bloody handprints on the wall,leading all the way down the hall. She was lost so she decided to follow it.

The trail ended at the end of the hallway and she found a glass door behind the red curtains,marked "The mystery of the deep sea" She opened it and a gust of cold wind and saltwater scent hit her.

"Hmm...i didnt see there is a door behind the curtains..oh well..better head in and see." Eve thought and stepped inside. As she was walking in, the glass door closed gently behind her. Turning back into the gloomy walkway, she saw paintings of aquatic life. One was an elegant dolphin,one a weird looking sea cucumber and another a deep sea scary looking fish. The paintings got weirder and weirder. There were even skeletons of mermaids painted and their big round milky eyes stared out of the canvas paper.

Eve shuddered at the sight and walked faster down the hall. It got colder and darker as she went deeper. Even the floor that she walked on made weird squishy sounds.

"Water? Shit. My socks are wet!" Eve wore her shoes back in a jiffy and bended down. She did felt water as she dipped her fingertips. Was this place leaking?!

She placed her fingertips close to her nose. It smells like seawater. Weird.

" The museum have these here to create sea like environment? Wow..." She thought ridiculously.

She walked and walked,seemingly reaching no end. To make things worse, she realised the water level was rising.

"What?!" She lifted her water soaked shoes and quickly turned back. She was not walking any further. However,the next step she took was an empty space. Her left foot fell right into the hole and her whole body followed . Cold freezing water overtook her and she was sinking into the inky darkness below. Eve swung her arms and kicked her legs, struggling to swim back up to the surface. The water had rushed into her nose and ears. She felt like dying.

Her efforts were useless as she sank deeper and deeper till she lost all of her conscious.
