EPILOGUE
_____It's been five years ever since Rintarou Suna sat down on that very bench in the high school that he studied in. The last time he ever did sit there was the day before she left to continue on with the life that she wanted to live, and he remembered that certain day so vividly.
On his third-year of high school, he remembered observing that very place from afar – from the way the brown tree's branches swayed as the wind passed by, a few petals of pink color falling over the bumpy stone-bench that they used to sit on, and the way the light just absorbed the pinkish hue as the light reflects onto the flowers' petals.
He wondered how he fell asleep at such an uncomfortable position with its surface having such an uneven and lumpy texture that marked his skin every time he laid down.
He remembered observing it from afar every time he came across the place while a smile would flit across his lips, and for a second, he would see the image of the two of them in the same position as they last engraved their memories right there.
He would observe, but he wouldn't sit there. And after a few seconds, he'd leave feeling like his body had grown lighter and he'd feel prepared to practice with his volleyball team once again.
Rintarou Suna was the happiest at those moments they spent with each other, and he wouldn't trade all of those memories for the world even when now that they had lost contact with each other. He didn't regret meeting her at all, even if the sudden unwanted space divided the two of them because different priorities, and because of that, he hadn't seen her again since that day.
He hadn't talked to her again ever since after the first few months when she started college. He admits – it was harder to let go of someone that brought such a unique feeling that lifted his spirits up every single time, but it was harder to catch up with each other when they felt like the world was leaving them behind with a sea of responsibilities that they had yet to accomplish when they're caught up with each other.
So reluctantly, they both let go.
"Oi, Suna! It's your turn to pay for our drinks tomorrow, okay?" Motoya Komori calls out from a few meters away, when he sees his teammate start to walk out of the gym.
The dark of night had already taken over this part of the world as the Moon floats high up from above with the clouds flying just below it, covering the already minimal light that it provided. The streets of Tokyo were now lit up with street lights that stood meters away from each other, and there were still bustling people that walked around even at this time though it was only on certain parts.
Rintaro Suna had his gym bag slung over his shoulder as he felt a slight tense in his muscles located on almost each part of his body making him sigh.
He turns around when he hears his Komori call out then answer, "No, I'm not joining you guys tomorrow!"
He releases a breathy chuckle when he hears his teammate groan in annoyance before he turned around to walk back to his apartment. He eyes the orangish street lights that provided him a way for him to see and follow as he walked towards the usual quiet path that towards where he lived.
The sounds of metals slapping against the ground, with the stores closing at this time and the few people that chatted were the sounds that he heard. Though as he walked, his eyes caught a familiar person's that he hadn't seen in a few years.
