After what was dubbed as "The Dorito Incident" by Keefe, they began to get to work.

Of course, Dex and Sophie didn't tell Keefe about the Black Swan because Sophie had literally just met him 2 days ago. It would've been extremely stupid to tell Keefe about the Black Swan after knowing him for such a short time.

Keefe probably suspected something, but he was either too tipsy to comprehend their not-so-subtle-whispering, or he just didn't want to be nosy—which was highly unlikely—so he hadn't said anything yet.

Sophie started to interrogate Keefe about everything he knew that had to do with his mom. "Did she ever do anything suspicious? Or did she act like she was hiding anything?"

Keefe's brain was working a little slow from the alcohol, so it took a minute for him to respond. "She is really good at hiding stuff... I can't find any memories of her being super suspicious. One time she did drive away at 3 in the morning after an argument with my dad, but other than that I can't find any other memories. I might be able to find more once I'm a little more sober and I have some time to scroll through them, though." Keefe said the last sentence hopefully. Though, his hope sounded a little forced; like he was trying to convince himself along with Sophie and Dex.

Sophie sighed in frustration. It was always so hard to find solid evidence. Sophie looked at Keefe. "Maybe tomorrow after we trash the Vacker Castle we can search your house. Is that fine with you? We might be able to get some solid evidence."

Keefe pondered this for a moment. "Yeah, I guess that works. My dad will be home, so we'll have to deal with him—which will be a pain. Are you going to join our search party, too?" He questioned Dex.

"Yeah, I luckily don't have to babysit the triplets tomorrow. That's literally my only day off." Dex answered. Sophie was super happy he could join because they would probably need him to break into some things at Keefe's house. Dex was the master of breaking and entering.

Sophie nodded. "I'll text you when we finish our extreme prank."

Dex raised an eyebrow. "I thought you were just joking about that. Do I want to ask?"

Keefe popped into the conversation. "We're just you know... egging and TP-ing the Vackers house because Fitz and Biana are—" The ringing of Dex's phone cut him off.

Dex answered. "What is it this time, Rex?" A garbled sound came from the other end and Dex sighed. He signaled that he had to leave and walked out of the bar.

Sophie was never going to find out what was going on at training now. Forkle was going to kill her. He took attendance very seriously. If a member ever had a bad attendance record, he would give them amnesia—who knew how in the world he did that—and then kick them out of the order. Luckily, that only happened if your track record for attendance was really bad.

After Dex left, an awkward silence hung in the air. Sophie was the one to break it. "Are you okay after what happened this afternoon?" She questioned with severe concern.

Keefe put on a very unconvincing smile. If it had been real, it would've been a smirk. "Yeah, you don't need to worry about me, Foster. My mom can leave me all she wants, I don't need her. We can both be in the No Mom Club! Only the coolest people are allowed in." Keefe held his hand up for a high five, and Sophie slapped his hand with a smile.

After realization hit her, Sophie backed-up a step. "Wait—how do you even know I don't have a mom?!" She was extremely creeped-out to say the least.

Keefe looked surprised by what he had said, too. "I-I actually don't know... I guess I just assumed? I swear I'm not some creepy stalker. Ugh—I've probably messed-up our whole friendship now..."

Sophie spoke. "I mean—I guess it's fine? Just pretty creepy. That won't ruin our friendship, though. I'm pretty sure we'll be friends for a while, so one weirdly terrifying assumption won't destroy our friendship."

It was extremely cool and weird all at the same time that Keefe could assume things so accurately. They would have to test some things out to see if that had just been a coincidence, or if he had somehow known.

"Well—I guess I should um... go home... I guess..." Keefe looked like he never wanted to go back to his house. He seemed miserable just thinking about going home.

So, surprisingly, Sophie made the offer of a lifetime. If it had been anyone else, she would've never suggested this, but for some reason with Keefe it was different. It felt like they had known each other for years. "You could maybe sleep at my house..." Sophie realized how weird that sounded, so she quickly added, "I mean—like—in our guest bedroom that my adoptive parents never go into. I obviously didn't mean—"

Keefe cut her off before she said anything more embarrassing. He smirked as he said, "You sure you didn't mean that?"

Sophie blushed deeply, and Keefe chuckled at how red her cheeks had gotten. "No, of course I didn't mean to say it like that, idiot."

Keefe raised an eyebrow. "If you say so..." He laughed even harder as her cheeks somehow managed to blush a deeper red. "And yeah, I'd really like to stay in the guest bedroom of your house. I just can't go home to my dad." Keefe continued.

Sophie softly whispered, "I understand. Sometime you'll have to face him, though, but now is not that time."
