Two: A King of Narnia

    “Drop him!”

Peter heard Susan’s cry and went running, drawing his sword as he came up next to her. The dwarf held in the soldiers arms gave them a look and Peter realised to late the poor choice of words Susan had used. With two swings the soldiers threw the dwarf into the water, Peter ran forward with Edmund while Susan shot one of the soldiers, the other jumped into the water after his comrades body.

Diving into the water Peter swam down and grabbed the dwarf under it’s arms, pulling it’s heavy body up. Dragging it onto the shore, Peter stepped back, allowing Lucy to cut the ropes binding its wrists. Swiftly the Narnian rolled over and pulled the gag out, spitting water from his mouth. Peter brushed wet hair from his eyes, smirking slightly as it got to its feet.

“Drop HIM?” The dwarf shouted at Susan in annoyance, throwing the gag to the ground. Susan blanched slightly, she did not expect angry words. “That’s the best you can come up with?” Peter looked at his siblings in confusion.

“A simple thank you would suffice,” Susan replied tartly.

“They were doing fine drowning me without your help,” he continued, pointing violently where the soldiers had been trying to drown him.

“Maybe we should’ve let them,” Peter cut in, annoyed at the dwarf’s lack of gratitude.

“Why were they trying to kill you anyway?” Lucy spoke up softly, her voice far kinder than Peter and Susan’s.

“They’re Telmarines. That’s what they do,” the dwarf replied and Peter’s eyes widened in shock. Telmarine was not very near Narnia and he recalled that they had not often ventured into their land when him and his siblings were ruling.

“Telmarines? In Narnia?” Edmund voiced all of their confusion.

“Where have you been for the last few hundred years?” The dwarf asked, looking at them as if they had been living under a rock for centuries. Peter pushed down the thought that he had abandoned Lilith for far longer than he thought.

“It’s a bit of a long story,” Lucy muttered while Susan handed Peter his sword.

“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me. You’re it? You’re the kings and queens of old?” The dwarf asked, studying them all.

“High King Peter… the magnificent,” Peter introduced, stepping forward and holding out his hand. Susan laughed.

“You probably could have left out the last bit,” she muttered, Peter gave her a look.

“Probably,” the dwarf chuckled, looking sideways at Peter.

“You might be surprised,” Peter stated, ignoring his sister’s tease as he drew his sword.

“Oh, you don‟t want to do that, boy,” the dwarf answered, giving him a dubious look. Peter held back the urge to roll his eyes.

“Not me,” Peter explained, turning his sword around and offering the dwarf the hilt. “Him,” he indicated Edmund who grinned and drew his own sword. The dwarf gave them all a look before grabbing the sword, the weight of which dropping his arms automatically. Peter stepped back as Edmund grinned at them all.

Very suddenly the dwarf brought up the blade and bated Edmund’s away, knocking him in the nose with his elbow.

“Edmund!” Lucy cried out, stepping forward some.
