Alexandra Walker P.O.V.

The clock ticking in the kitchen and the occasional car passing on the street outside was all I could hear, which did nothing to help the sleep come back to me.

Last night I went to bed at around eleven, after a day full of work and making sure everything was ready for today. Even than I could hardly find my sleep with the excitement pulsing through my veins .

Today is a special day for me, it's the opening of my second fashion Atelier. To make it even more special I will be opening it in Miami, FL in the US. My first Atelier is based in Toronto, ON in Canada and I never thought I would expand outside of Canada. When I first opened the doors here I never even thought  of expanding. Now seeing my unknown dream turn into reality and actually expanding is worth so much more than any money in the world.

I would never have opened my second Atelier if it wasn't for my investors at Walker industries though. They contacted me a few months ago after an Article about my Atelier was released online. When I first received their email I froze, I still remember my mom coming to my office and bring me out of my frozen state just to have me get into a frenzy and throw myself into sending them all the papers they needed to see if we could work together.

When they analysed everything I got a call of William Walker himself asking me how open I would be to have a presential meeting here in my office. To say I was over the moon is an understatement, everyone on my team of workers was over the moon and that evening we fired all together.

A week after that phone call they flew over and saw my atelier for themselves. After a meeting they were ready to help me expand and they knew exactly where to, the Fashion District in Miami. Of course I was over the moon at their opinions but I didn't show it and kept my cool the whole time.

When they came up here for the first time it was actually really funny because I could swear they were ready to pass out when both Axel and William Walker saw me. After making sure they were alright, I guided them to my office where some bottles of water were already placed ready for them on my meetings table. They soon regained some of the color that had previously drained from both their faces and the meeting went smoothly from there on.

The fact that our last name was the same also made some good jokes where William Walker actually said that maybe I was his sister and we didn't even know. We all laughed at that and kept on going with the business at hand. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed the whole time, making this the best meeting I've ever had.

I laugh at the memory and come back to reality checking my phone once more, before giving up on waiting for the damn alarm to ring. It's six a.m. and my alarm is due to ring at around half past six, which is going to take too long for my nervous ass to lay still here and wait.

I jump out of bed wide awake and rush to the bathroom, going through my morning routine. I take a few extra minutes on my make up to make sure I look half alive. Under-eye bags isn't the best look and I need to make sure they are properly covered. I have some meetings today with Mr's. Walker and I still have my usual work plus I need to be on top of what is happening today in Miami.

I would've flown over for the inauguration but I just couldn't leave  this week. I was booked to the brim with meetings and some of our VIP clients requested for my specific input on the design of their pieces which ended in some late night stays at the office. It wasn't all bad though, because usually my mom would come to get me before she needed to leave for her shift at the hospital. She always had a problem with me walking around the streets alone at night and I didn't mind at all

She didn't need to work but she insisted that it was her duty as my mother and that it helped her distract herself from memories that wouldn't leave her alone. I didn't really have many  arguments left on why she could just sit back and relax after so many years struggling so I just gave up on the matter.

I look myself over in the mirror happy with my choice of clothing. My to go work attire was all black and today was not different.  I was wearing skinny black jeans, with a black tank top and a black see through blouse with some to top it off. My hair was as usual tied up and today I chose to go for a side fishtail braid.

I get out of the room and notice my mom still hasn't arrived home so I check the clock once more and notice it's still too early and she doesn't leave the hospital until at around seven am. Knowing she will be to tired to cook I make my way to the fridge to grab the ingredients to make our breakfast.

Just as I was placing our plates down on out kitchen table I hear the front door open.

"Honey, I'm home." Hearing my moms voice yell this every morning always makes me smile.

"I smell something fine from over here. What are you up to baby?" I can hear her let her bag fall to the ground and kicking her shoes off before her footsteps get closer.

"I just thought it would be nice to make breakfast so you wouldn't have to worry about it. I couldn't get more sleep anyway so I made myself useful." And just as I turn to place the glasses of orange juice down my smiling mom enters the kitchen coming straight to me.

This woman is addicted to hugs I swear, but I never complain because I love her more than anything on this world and her hugs are the best stress relieve I ever tried. We hug and she places a gentle kiss on my forehead before letting me go and turn to look at the table.

"You did all this alone?" She asks me acting as it's the first time I've ever cooked for us.

"Mooom, you make it sound like it's the first time I've ever done this." She blows me a kiss after taking a seat at the table.

"You know I love to tease you. It's my work to annoy you after all..." She looks down at her plate for a second before looking back at me with a smile that didn't reach her eyes anymore.

We slid into easy conversation where she told me about her shift. Soon though we both hugged our goodbyes and I left to work while she went to bed.
