When I told a police man about meeting Shaan, he spoke up, “He is allowed to meet only one person per day and someone has already met him today.”
Hearing him, I asked to meet Tamim but the answer was same. Then I got back to hospital.
Entering the room, I kept standing by the bed where Titly was lying. I was thinking what would I do if I lose her again.
I got out of the room and sat on the chair when Roshni came to me. I knew what she would ask me. So I answered her all by myself.
Hearing me, she uttered with a little bit of hesitation, “Ruhaan, though I have just known Shaan for few days but I think we are missing something. I mean he didn’t seem to be a person to do all that.”
Hearing her, I looked at her and she got all silent.
Then with a little bit of smile, I spoke up, “Roshni, I know Shaan too well to believe all this nonsense. He is just not the fiance of Titly but also my brother and less than Titly to me.
How could he think of doing this nonsense things! If he was involved in those, he wouldn’t have been with me all those times let alone suffering with me.”
Roshni uttered to herself, “Then why did he do that?” and hearing that I spoke up again, “He is just blaming himself as his father did all that.”
Hearing me, Roshni got shocked as she uttered, “What! What did you say?”
Staring at her, I spoke up, “Though it came to my mind when Tamim was being like that but I ignored the thought. Maybe Shaan got to know it somehow and went on with this as there might be no proof of his father’s action to punish him and he is not a person to repent on his actions.”
Hearing me, Roshni uttered in anger, “Forget about me but how could he do this to Titly, to you, to his own son, Shaan! When he knew Shaan loved Titly and she was Shaan’s would be wife.”
“He didn’t like us back then. Aunty, Shaan’s Ammi and my Ammi were best friends. They wanted this marriage to happen. Though we didn’t get along well with uncle but we had no idea that he hated us that much. When Aunty died, he totally got into his business ignoring Shaan and Shaan started to spend his time with us.”
Uttering to herself, “What kind of a person he is! How could he do this to his own child!”, Roshni looked at me and spoke up, “But Ruhaan, what will we do now? We can’t just let Shaan take all the blame on himself of his terribly pathetic father.”
I spoke up being anguished, “You know, Ammi always considered Shaan as her son. She always kept telling me to be with Shaan when his mother died. I promised Ammi that I would be with him and protect Titly and Shaan both from all the evil things. But I couldn’t, Roshni. I failed to keep my promise. Neither I could protect Titly nor Shaan and both of them are going through all these.” and tears started rolling down my cheeks.
Roshni then spoke up with her head down, “Then I am also at fault to some extent.” but in no moment she looked at me and uttered, “But it’s not the time to find faults with ourselves or repent on our action, Ruhaan. We need to do something for Shaan.”
Nodding at her, I spoke up, “Shaan might have done this finding no other way to get the truth revealed. But we have to find something. We have to do something to get Shaan back to us. If Titly gets her memory back, she would surely ask for Shaan and I can’t just tell her all this.”

It was almost 4 at night. Titly was still unconscious. Mrs. Ayesha fell asleep in the couch while waiting for Titly to wake up. Ruhaan and Roshni were just sitting by the bed of Titly.
Though it was not allowed for three person to stay with one patient at night but with Mrs. Ayesha’s heart condition, Roshni somehow managed to convince the doctor and stayed there.
Sitting by the bed of Titly, Roshni and Ruhaan both were totally silent as they kept staring at the face of Titly while being lost in their past memories with cheerful Titly.
Their thought got broken when they heard a meek voice.
"Vai?”
Finding Titly looking at him with slightly opened eyes, he stood up and spoke up excitedly, “Titly? You are awake dear? Thanks to Allah. I don’t know what I would have done if I got to lose you again."
With a little bit of smile, she spoke up, “Where would I go vai leaving you!”
Saying this, he slowly moved her head to other side. Giving Roshni a confused look, she turned to Ruhaan and spoke up, “Where is Shaan, Vai? Tell him to stop crying. I am fine now.” while slowly closing her eyes again....
