Junior's no longer appeared like a tired kid when face with so many exciting things. Junior looked, wanted to touch and point at everything. He pretty much took the lead dragging Katsuki around the store.
Junior kept going back to two items, a truck and a plane, unsure what to get. So Katsuki just put them into the toy bag they were given when they entered.
As Katsuki looked around for toys Kaneki and the baby would like. Junior stopped in front of a set of magnetic shapes. From the image, the colorful pieces, when built, can create buildings and other structures. And the pieces were safe enough for the baby.
Junior looked at the package and then to the toys he had chosen and frowned, almost as if he knew he wasn't getting anything else. When he went to take one of the toys out of the bag, Katsuki grabbed two boxes of the Magna-tiles. Knowing Kaneki loved building things, and because he didn't want to force them to share, he grabbed one for each of them. When Junior smiled and hugged his leg, he sighed and continued looking for the baby.
He saw nothing he thought was safe for the Kiyoko other than books, which angered him a bit. When they finally found stuffed animals, his first thought was how the littlest brat needed everything. As he started to grab different stuffed animals, he realized that they would have no place to go for weeks. So Katsuki put all but three back, a bunny, a duck, and a cat for Kaneki.
When he believed he covered everyone, he took Junior's hand and went to pay. He didn't want to spend another minute in such a vicious place. As he and Junior walk to the car, he noticed Best Jeanist calling and picked up right away.
"What is it?" Katsuki spoke while he snapped Junior into his car seat and went to put the bags in the trunk.
"Are you taking days off now?" Best Jeanist said, surprised.
Katsuki looked at Junior and frowned. "No."
"I have updates on your case, and I've been waiting. I'm very busy, but I'll give you a few minutes to arrive as a new parent courtesy." Best Jeanist said, hanging up.
Katsuki was irritated when the phone click. He didn't like being told what to do, but if he got upset, the brat would spend the next few minutes asking if he had done something to make Katsuki mad.
As he got into the car, he realized that maybe he should have updated his team on his plans. Thinking about it, Best Jeanist showing up expected could explain why he has so many messages from them. Still, Best Jeanist wouldn't have stopped by if what he had to share could be done over the phone.
Katsuki took a deep breath, glanced at the brat staring at him from the rearview mirror, and pulled out of the parking space. And rather than dropping Junior home, Katsuki drove for 30 minutes until he approached the side gates of a rectangular glass building. The building was gray-tinted and two-stories high, and anyone passing would look and think that it was just a random piece of architecture. Katsuki drove up to the gates and waited as beam scanned his car. Once it was done, the gates opened, and he drove to the back of the structure.
Katsuki drove until he positions the car on a glass-like pavement, rolling down the window and sticking his wrist out the car. As a light traced his wrist, and then the car, Katsuki turned off the engine and turned back to Junior, who was very, very confused.
"So the car is going to move on its own like it's falling. We are not falling; this is just an elevator for cars. You will see lots of lights and lots of people—no one you have to be afraid of because this is papa's work.
Just as Katsuki finished speaking, the car's wheel was locked in place, the ground pulled apart, and the car was pulled downwards. The car lowered six stories to the ground, and there wasn't anything Junior could see because the glass was fogged. When they reach the ground floor, the car's wheels were released, and the walls open in all directions so that Katsuki can pull out. Once through, the elevator returned, and Katsuki parked his car in his space.
