They had both fallen asleep on the couch that they were happy to have purchased after debating whether or not to get something smaller. Katsuki slept behind Izuku with his arms wrap around him to keep him in place. The deal was Izuku would get up if the baby woke up. That Izuku would deal with everything baby. Still, it was close to 4 am, and it seemed like only he could hear that the baby was crying.
Katsuki wished he realized sooner that he had drawn the shortest straw, especially since Izuku was a deep sleeper. Katsuki shook his shoulder to wake him, but Izuku continued to sleep peacefully with a stupid grin on his face.
As Katsuki headed to see what was wrong with the smallest brat, he wanted to punch his sleeping husband who even after he moved he continued to sleep. If the house were on fire, getting all 5 of them out to safety would be on him only.
He walked over to the crib and looked in; the babies eyes were wide awake as she whimpered in her little voice. She was bundled up like a cocoon the same way Inko had handed her over, and the only time she was unwrapped was when Izuku had to change her diaper with the help of Google and YouTube. Still, as he watched her, he felt that she was overdressed but wasn't sure.
"What do you want?" Katsuki asked. When she heard his voice, she paused between cries. As he started to peel the layers off of her, he saw that her hair drenched in sweat. When he got the wrap off of her, she wore a one-piece outfit. When he unbuttoned the outfit, she was wearing a little top and little pants and underneath that was her onesie that was very damp. He could kill Izuku when he saw all the layers on her. He felt terrible that he scooped her out of the crib.
"I'll talk to your dad about the layers because this is ridiculous," Katsuki said laying her on his chest as he looked through the bag for a change of clothes. When he finally found another onesie, after digging for 5 minutes, he realized how unprepared they were when it came to all the things the baby needed. It took him 10 minutes to change her out of the wet clothes and to put on a dry diaper—something he made clear that he wouldn't do.
When he laid her back into the crib, the baby who was slightly noisy in his arms began to cry as if the world had come to an end. Feeling a tug in his chest, he picked her back up, which she calmed down a little bit. Katsuki sighed, heading to the kitchen with her to prepare her milk, hoping that maybe that would help her go back to sleep.
He mixed the formula with room temperature water and shook the bottle till everything was combined as he did he watched in envy as Izuku slept with no care in the world.
"I'm going to kill your dad in the morning," Katsuki whispered to the baby he held with one arm.
He walked and sat on the other side of the sectional to feed the baby. It was his first time doing it and didn't expect that she would be staring at him as if she was judging how he fed her. Her little eyes were focused on him, and when he narrowed his eyes at her, she released the feeder and smiled. He wasn't sure if it was reflexes or what but it was so cute he nearly melted.
"You are lucky you are so cute," he told her as he placed the feeder back into her mouth. When she made a sound that sounded like a laugh, he couldn't help but chuckle too.
"So it looks like you have two colored eyes like a candy cane that I know. I guess I can't make fun him anymore," he told her when she made the sound again he laughed. "Stop it and drink your milk and go to sleep," he ordered. When she smiled, his heart sped up, and he wondered if this was what Izuku felt.
Katsuki decided to stay quiet till she drank the whole bottle and when she finished, he was so excited like he had accomplished something significant. He tapped her back until she burped and when she did, he dried her mouth and carried her back to the crib.
