"WHAT? ANOTHER MISSION?!" Caleb Greene shouted in shock.

His light grey eyes were wide as watermelons. His mouth was left agape as he processed this new update. Teresa winced at her younger sibling's strident voice.

"How long this time?" a much deeper voice asked her.

Teresa turned towards her father and sighed sadly.

"I don't know and I can't tell you where. All I know that it's somewhere in Sydney," she lied.

"SYDNEY?!" Caleb shouted once again, spittle flying out of his mouth.

Teresa wanted to tell him that he was about to be late for work as his identity card hung from his collar, but she had a hunch that he would end up wrestling her on the floor. He could be strong if he wanted to.

"That doesn't fall under the CBI's jurisdiction as far as I know," her father wondered grimly.

You know too much, Teresa grumbled.

The Central Bureau of Investigation's jurisdiction fell as far as California would go. Sydney was too sudden and far. Teresa mentally threw herself off a mountain. Lying wasn't her strongest charm.

"I won't be in danger. It's just for observational purposes. Nothing special," she blurted out instead.

A lie to cover up another lie.

"Hmmm," Zack Greene considered.

Forty-eight-year-old Zack Greene was a simple businessman with a lot of knowledge on the general media and CBI. It was his unique characteristic. There was a noticeable spike in his interest after Caleb pursued journalism and Teresa joined the CBI.

He had been so against Teresa and Caleb's job choices that he had thrown both out of his place in rage. It had been in vain. Teresa and Caleb lived with Mr Bakshi until they were called back. After seeing both of his children being persistent to their choices, he had to oblige. As a father, he forgave his children.

One hand on his protruding stomach and another caressing his short-trimmed black hair, he processed his daughter's new and sudden mission.

Teresa understood how hard he was taking it right now.

"Do you want to do it?" he softly asked.

If she doesn't, I can do something about it, he told himself.

"No Teresa don't," Caleb suddenly piped in. "Give me some of the details and I can make a good story out-"

"-NO ONE asked you for your nonsense. Stupid media always butting in everywhere," their father grumbled at Caleb.

Caleb sat down with an offended look and Teresa blinked twice at him apologetically. Their dad had been harsher on Caleb than on her after he had joined journalism despite his protests. He thought Caleb spied around the house, which didn't make a lot of sense. Caleb was actually most sensible than most twenty-three-year-olds journalists were found to be.

The irony in that though, Teresa scoffed.

Teresa wondered if she really wanted it. She remembered her first mission as an informer. It had been an extreme success, and she had been promoted to a secret agent in the CBI. That had been five years ago. Often she had to go out of her way to trace information and track her assigned criminals. Yet since the last three years, there had been no talk of a promotion. The only promotion there had been was the risk scale and intensity of each mission. A part of her scorned at the mission, but the loyal and good side inside her said yes. Not everyone could be trusted this much and forfeiting now would only be seen as an act of cowardice.

She smiled at her old man who observed her with his sharp and keen brown eyes and nodded in a yes.

"Yes I do want this," she agreed.

The man only shrugged in dissatisfaction and got up from his chair.

"When do you have to go?", he questioned.

Now, this was the harder part.

"I'm going tomorrow dad," she chewed her lips nervously.

"TOM- TOMORROW?!" Caleb screeched once again.

Zack Greene's lips twitched to scold him, but even he couldn't deny the fact that that piece of information was indeed surprising.

Teresa saw her father take big and heavy steps towards her. He kissed her forehead and with a sad smile walked into his room. She sighed. That was the most affection she had seen her father give anyone including Caleb and her from the time she remembered. It was a mystery how they were his biological children. They had never known who their mother had been, and her dad didn't keep any pictures. To Caleb and Teresa, the mother had never existed. The only thing they knew about her was that her name had been Catherine. Caleb had once heard him mutter about her in a drunken state.

"Why the heck would you leave your kids Catherine? Cinereal cries everyday" Caleb had heard their father say one night.

They figured Cinereal was some sister or aunt's name.

Teresa had searched every type of file but had found no information on a Catherine her father had been associated with. Catherine was all she ever had had on her mother.

"DID YOU SAY TOM-," Caleb began to shout once again, but Teresa stuffed a slice of bread into his mouth.

He furrowed his eyebrows, and his nostrils flared wide open as he struggled to chew on.

"Shut up for once you cackling twit. Do you want dad to march you out of the house permanently this time?" she scolded him.

Caleb shook his head furtively. Teresa laughed at his cute actions and tousled his black hair. It had been dishevelled and wavy anyways. He grumbled something with a piece of bread in his mouth and glared at his sister whilst chewing up furiously.

The house rang of Teresa's child-like laughter and Caleb's frustrated groans. It had been a while since the house had sounded like that.

Both the siblings looked at each other through fun-filled but downcast eyes as the reality dawned on them.

Ah, I'll miss this, both thought.
