Blurry Sight

Teresa was climbing the stairs when the alarms rang. Suddenly and loudly. She groped for some support as her head ached simultaneously and quietly slid to the ground.

After about ten entire minutes, she managed to get out from that eerie tunnel or stairway with a hand on her forehead.

Somebody pulled her by the arm and handed her a gun.

"Are you okay?" Seth asked.

How did he even-

Teresa nodded quickly and stood aright. She could feel her head swimming and her vision blurring, but she tried to concentrate harder. It didn't help with her headache.

"Then go shoot some people!" he barked and ran outside.

Teresa followed. Her footsteps were heavy and mismatched. She was losing control and fast.

This won't do.

She punched the wall as hard as she could and almost broke her fist. The pain cleared her vision for a bit as tiny droplets of blood fell on the floor from her peeled knuckle skin.

She took cover behind a desk made of wood that seemed rich and sturdy.

There was a lot of commotion and noise.

She could hear gun fires and occasional cries of people. When she listened closely, she could almost figure out the guns the imposters might be using.

Imposters? That's a funny word, Teresa.

Her head started to hurt again out of the blue. She bit her lips to avoid from crying out and gripped her gun so hard her hands began to tremble. Everything now seemed a piece of dull background music to her. The shooting, the voices, her own breathing. Silence became a vacuum, and she imagined herself floating in space.

There was a smash of windows, and she saw herself being carried away in the arms of a woman with wavy brown hair. The woman felt comely and elegant. Teresa couldn't see the woman's face. However, she was worried and scared. Terrified, as a matter of fact.

Everything was a blur around her.

Teresa felt the slim and beautiful woman carry her down some stairs which felt strangely similar. She didn't feel safe though. There was fear in her and loads of it.

Her surroundings were unclear, but Teresa could breathe the house in as if it were a person. The house smelt of wood and coppery metal. A weird sensation ran through her nose.

Strange things occurred so fast that at one moment they were running down the stairs and the next she was standing in front of the back door.

A semi-conscious Teresa wondered how she knew anything about there being a back door.

Even though the woman seemed to be looking straight at her, Teresa couldn't see her clearly. Her face was a haze. Like some bad and low-quality motion picture film. As if the camera lens of her eyes, were covered by some unclean transparent tape.

However, despite all the unclarity, Teresa noticed how lovely and familiar the woman's teeth were. They were a lot like hers, actually. They weren't perfect but pointed and tilted at places giving it a crooked look.

Nevertheless, something inside Teresa knew that when she'd smile, that crookedness would add up to the woman's beauty.

How did she know this again?

Teresa felt immensely concerned for the lady. The feelings were so strong that her head gave a pang of pain, and she drifted back to the shooting that was being taken place before her. She saw Seth shake her by the shoulders and his lips moving furiously fast. Was he saying something? It looked like he was.

"Cinereal baby," the woman's honey-like voice brought her back to the dream again. "I want you to run out the back door and go to the police station daddy always took you to. Okay?"

Cinereal?

She didn't understand what or who Cinereal was, but she nodded at the name. She welcomed it, in fact.

Teresa heard more glasses smashing and more people trying to break in. She tried to remember what was she doing or what her purpose was, but all she managed to recall was the back door. Every inch of her sub-consciousness staunchly believed that it was her utmost priority to run out the back door then.

And just at that moment did Teresa gain full consciousness over what she was seeing.

I– What am I doing here?

(Cinereal run!)

Shut up. I'm Teresa.

(Cinereal dear, listen to mommy-)

Shut up. Shut up. SHUT UP!

(-and don't look back. I love you!)

The voices in her head got louder. Teresa couldn't identify which from which. Her head was filled with booms and screams till they sounded inhuman. Her breaths came out raggedly each time. Visions after visions came and went so quickly, she felt like she was looking at a fast-paced slideshow of some vivid colours.

These..... this isn't real. I'm-

(Cinereal baby)

-Teresa.

Then everything stopped. There was a dead silence.

She needed help, she noted after a certain point of silence.

It was weird enough seeing peculiar things. Never mind the fact that her brain had an all-out interrogation with her. To top it all off, she even asked it to shut up.

Nice.

Yet what were they? She needed to find out. But did she want to?

She saw Seth still by her side and looked down to see her gun lying uselessly by her side. She was lying on the floor.

Her eyes started to close their doors in on the world. Sleep seemed like a better option now.
