Viper left in such a rush when we got back. I felt horrible. I wanted her and she wanted me but I was the one stopping it by sticking to this stupid engagement.
As soon as I reached the manor I went to go talk to my mother. She was in the study where she usually is. Doing one of her many hobbies that I don't really know the difference between any of them anymore.
"Mother can I ask you something?" I ask. And she looks up immediately.
"Of course sweetheart. Come on sit down." She says and I join her.
"Do you remember Viper?" She gives me that sympathetic mum look.
"Are you feeling guilty about your engagement. Like you've betrayed Viper, because sweetheart she's the one that disappeared." She says.
"No. It's just what if I'd found her. Before the engagement or maybe even after." I ask and She sighs.
"Well had it of been before we never would've stopped you. But now if you did would it really be wise to just throw everything away for one girl?" She says.
"That's shouldn't matter! What should matter is what makes me happy not some stupid deal." I yell.
"Draco what's gotten into you?" She asks standing up In an attempt to comfort me.
"Nothing mother. Just why can't it for once be about me and my life and how I feel. Rather then what's best for you or dad or this "family". If I don't want this engagement then I should get the say. It's MY life. Not yours." I say before I stormed off.
I then just went to my room and stayed there for the rest of the day.
"There you are! Where have you been?" Suddenly whatever energy I have left drains from me as Sabrina marches in.
"Out." I say without looking at her. I just look at the ceiling.
"Out? So you blow off our engagement party cause you feel ill and then you spend the next day out by yourself." She says suspiciously.
"Pretty much." I say.
"Well tomorrow your spending the day with me. We have to show that we're a couple else people will keep doubting us. Besides the sooner we plan this wedding the better." She says as she goes to re adjust the curtains.
Better for who exactly?
"And what if I don't feel like planning anything just yet." I say feeling slightly numb.
"This is about that girl you used to date isn't it." She says before she walks over and sits in my bed.
"Don't bring her into this." I say calmly.
"But it is isn't it. Look Draco she left left you. She didn't care she was only using you as a cover. No one at that school would touch her as long as you were close by. Then the second she does that Boggart class and the truth comes out your dad isn't actually on her side she runs off because her covers blown. It wasn't real Draco, but what we have could be." Anger builds inside of me. How dare she thinks she knows Viper. They've never even met.
"You know nothing about her." I hiss before rolling into my side to block her out. But there's one thing that stays with me. The day of professor Lupins class.
"I hate this class." Viper mumbled tiredly into my shoulder. She hadn't been sleeping too well.
