Chapter 5 We Might Get Out

Jessica's P.O.V.

After reading I have P.E. and Jake has choir. We walk in and the teacher tells us that we're playing socci. Plus we don't have to change. This so far is the only good thing that's happened to day. I end up being goalies with Jazel.

Justin ends up being on the opposite team as me. He comes up to shoot and I go too kick it away from him. He moves his foot right in front of the ball, so I kick his foot instead. "Ow..." I whine. I need to stop doing that. I've done that more than once. He still tries to kick the ball in and I end up catching it.

"How'd you do that?" Justin asks, "you just kicked my foot as hard as you could."

I just shrug my shoulders. "I'm just that awesome." I reply seriously. "Oh, by the way I didn't mean to kick your foot, I meant to kick the ball."

"Yeah, I figured that." He says with a small laugh. I smile. This is the first time all day that I've felt relaxed. I guess that Justin's good for something.

After P.E. we have homeroom. I have it with Justin so it's just like a normal day. We take our seats and act like everything is normal, except for the guy standing in the corner with a gun...

Soon the bell rings telling us that it's three twenty, time to go home, but no one moves. At four a voice comes over the intercom. "Everyone is to report to the auditorium right away."

Ashton Kagan's P.O.V.

The final bell of the day rings and we leave. I grab Cole and we go up to the middle school. The police stop us before we get far. "You can't go any farther."

"No! My brother and sister are in there." I say desperately.

"Where are your parents?" he asks.

"They're on a business trip." He looks at me.

"Are you saying that you're in charge at home right now?"

"Yes, sir." I say. I need to get information.

"Who are your brother and sister?"

"Jake and Jessica Kagan."

"Your name?"

"Ashton Kagan and my brother Cole."

"Wait here for a second." He says before he walks away.

When he comes back, Jaxson is with him. "Jaxson..." Cole says besides me.

"Do you know these boys?" The police guy asks Jaxson.

"Yeah, come on you two." We follow him closer to the school.

"What was that about?" I ask.

"I'm your sister's bodyguard, do you think they're going to let just anyone in?"

"Point taken."

"Wait, where's Adam?"

"He's- He's inside." Jaxson tells us.

"What do you mean he's inside?" I ask.

"I mean he's inside the school. I think they shot him. We heard gunshots but after that it was silent."

"Do you know if Jake or Jess knows?" Cole asks.

"We don't know anything about what's going on. Have you called your parents yet?"

"Yeah, Mom said they'd be here as soon as they can and Dad said to make sure they get out safely, so I don't know if they're coming or not."

"Your Mom will probably win. When it comes to her children there's no stopping her. They're probably on their way here now." He's probably right.
