CHAPTER ONE | HELLO BROTHER

THEY REFUSED TO GIVE UP HOPE THAT DAMON AND ENZO COULD BE FOUND. With every day that passed, they sent it searching for anything that could bring them one step closer to finding the two rogue vampires. Klara had gone through dozens of police reports, files, and anything that she could to find a lead, but everything always came back as a dead end. The group of friends vowed that they would steal a few moments of normalcy for themselves every day in amongst the search for Damon and Enzo. 

Stefan hovered over Klara as the pair laid naked in Stefan's bed, their naked bodies intertwined in a moment of bliss. The Salvatore worked his way down her neck until he reached her collar bone and that was when Klara decided to flip them over so she was on top. She bit her lip seductively while Stefan's palms laid flat on each of her bare thighs. He tucked a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear and admired the view she had blessed him with.

"Oh, Stefan. I should really, really get going." Klara groaned out loudly as she felt Stefan's hands slowly trail up and down her thighs. She loved the feeling of his skin on hers and only prayed that she could stay for longer.

"You should—" Stefan hummed as he leaned upwards and placed a passionate kiss against her lips once more until a grunt escaped her lips. "Doesn't mean I want you to, though."

Klara chuckled softly and then hopped off of Stefan. A sigh of irritation left his lips followed by a laugh as he watched the blonde hurry around the bedroom to gather the discarded items of clothing that covered appeared to have completely covered the floor.

"You know I wish I could stay, but you and I have a dozen things we need to do today." Klara sighed as she yanked a white, cropped jumper over her head. "What're your plans for today?"

"Well, I'm going back over all the Central State missing person's reports for the last four weeks to see if I missed a pattern," Stefan explained, without glancing up from the pile of paperwork in his desk.

"Hm, yeah, I think Caroline said she would follow up with the local affiliates today, too. I'm gonna stop in on her and check how the search is going." Klara let a sigh escape her lips as Stefan walked back over to her and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "I've got a good feeling about today, baby. It'll be better."

"Yeah." Stefan hummed softly as Klara peeled herself away from him just as her phone buzzed. "Klara? Klara, what is it?"

"They found a body." The blonde abruptly revealed as she watched Stefan's eyes widen. "There's— they've never found a body. That's hope, right? Please, please tell me that's hope."

"It's better than yesterday."
