CHAPTER ONE | I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

THE ENTIRITY OF THE SUMMER HAD PASSED, AND KLARA HADN'T HEARD FROM STEFAN ONCE. The first few weeks were the worst. She used to plague herself by wondering where he was, or what he was doing until eventually she stopped caring. She stopped thinking about him, stopped wondering where he was and pushed her feelings away until every day stopped becoming such a battle.

She hated Stefan Salvatore for what he did to her; for how he left her. Klara was relieved to be going off to Whitmore college, away from the house and the fragments of memories that he had left behind.  Elena and Damon hadn't really seemed to think about Stefan since he left. The couple had been too busy enjoying their time together. Klara actually enjoyed seeing what a happy, angst-free Damon Salvatore looked that and she loved that version of him.

Bonnie had managed to bring Jeremy Gilbert back to life just before she put the veil back up and then decided to spend the entire summer travelling with her Mom.

Klara pulled the last of her things down the staircase of the Salvatore house, while she heard Elena, Damon, and Jeremy all rehearsing what he was going to say considering it was first day back and most of his class mates knew he died.

"There were issues at home. Ever since I lost my parents and my aunt, I've been acting out. Drugs, drinking, I was looking for attention so I lit my house on fire and faked my own death." Jeremy spoke to Elena, who sat in front of him with a nervous look.

"Oscar winning performance, Jer. Truly." Klara mocked as she dumped another of her suitcases by the front door. "I'd really make sure you hit home about the whole drugs thing, and make sure to say the fire was an accident."

"Or I could just not go back considering my school already had a memorial for me." Jeremy raised an eyebrow as he looked from Klara to his sister.

"Got enough bags, Goldie-Locks?" Damon rolled his eyes. The sound of a car horn interrupted Elena's clear disapproval of Jeremy's idea to not return to school. "Caroline just pulled up."

"I—I can't leave. I should stay and at least wait until Jeremy settles into school." Elena shook her head. She lifted herself from the couch.

"You're leaving. You're going to college. You're gonna drink cheap beer and you're gonna protest things you don't care about." Damon narrowed his eyes toward Elena and then rested his hands on Jeremy's shoulders. "And I am gonna take care of your little brother. Trust me, you have nothing to worry about."

"Relax, Elena. Whitmore's only a few hours away. You can visit him whenever this dumbass screws up— by my guess, it'll be a lot." Klara rolled her eyes and gently smacked the back of Damon's head. She grabbed a few of her bags then rushed toward the front door. "Oh, by the way. I call shotgun!"
