Angel could see Papyrus's red scarf flapping through the fog before she heard the sound of a knife slashing through the air and the scarf fell into Sans's hand. Angel froze and after a moment, the silence was interrupted by an insane cackling coming from the fog. "Another life that you didn't save, Angel."
Angel could feel her heart beating and her soul pulsing from her sleeping form on the surface as she looked around to spot the child in the fog. The cackling seemed to be coming from every direction and yet, she couldn't see where they were.
Suddenly, she saw a blur of red as a knife slashed towards her. Angel was able to dodge it, but there were more flashes in the fog indicating more attacks. Angel ran through the fog, evading being hit. As she ran, she could feel piles of dust that her feet kicked through. Her head was filled with too much panic that she couldn't think of summoning her wings to defend herself.
Angel almost didn't dodge one attack but was saved when she slipped on something. Looking at what saved her, Angel saw Papyrus's scarf splayed over a large scattered pile of dust. Angel felt her blood freeze with dread and her mind go numb. Wasn't Sans holding the scarf just a few moments ago? Where was he? What had happened while the child was chasing her?
Angel got up to look for the short skeleton when she saw another red flash and she felt something sharp rake from her shoulder and across her chest. Angel's body exploded with pain and her eyes burned with tears that refused themselves to fall. She was too late. She didn't react fast enough. And now Toriel, Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys, Asgore, Sans... She had lost all of them. Angel lost.
Meanwhile, the child's cackle was becoming louder and louder and soon it was ringing in Angel's ears. Angel wanted to scream. She wanted to howl in mourning over her losses. And more than anything, she wanted to drown out that insane laughter. But instead, her body bends over with violent coughs. With a glance, she noticed that she had coughed up several blood-covered feathers.
Everything was spinning. Angel could only feel mind-numbing pain and confusion as her form collapsed. How could she have let this happen? Why didn't she tried to stop it sooner?
Angel could hear the child tauntingly calling her name. Coming closer and closer, until its voice was right next to her ear. Angel violently jerked back, falling out of her desk at school.
Angel patted herself to make sure that she was there before holding her shoulder. There wasn't any real pain, just a tingling feeling from the memory of being hit. It was just a nightmare from falling asleep in class. It wasn't real. Except, Papyrus being gone was real. Angel was too late, and this would haunt her in every timeline from now on. Angel's tears started to slip from her eyes as she gingerly held her shoulder.
"Angel?" Angel looked up to see her teacher standing over her with a concerned expression etched on her face. The other students were staring at Angel, and Gail was standing up to go to Angel. "Are you alright, Angel?" The teacher asked.
Angel's heart was racing as she took in what was happening, "I- I think that I need to be alone right now."
With that said, Angel stood up and left to head to the bathroom. Gail started to follow her but stopped by the doorway to the classroom. Angel had been very quiet since last night and she wouldn't explain what was wrong.
As the class resumed, Angel didn't come back. So when the bell rang, Gail quickly gathered her stuff as well as Angel's bag and she went to the bathroom to look for Angel. Just as Gail suspected, Angel was sitting on top of the walls that separated the stalls, tightly clutching her knees to her chest. Angel always liked to be in high places, especially when her emotions were very high. But she was careful to not do it when it would make other people uncomfortable. It was something that Gail admired about her. But, she had never seen Angel like this before.
"Angel? Is everything okay? Do you want to talk about it?"
Angel let out a sniffle, "I got scared again. For a while, I thought that I was becoming numb to it. But now it's coming at me full force and it's because of me. What do I do? How do I overcome all of this?!"
Angel frantically gripped her head, her breathing becoming quick and irregular. She was hyperventilating and Gail couldn't reach her. Gail stretched her arm to brush against Angel's shoe, "Angel! Slow down! I'm here for you. Everything is going to be okay."
Angel couldn't hear Gail's words. She was drowning in her own thoughts, "No! How do I stop this? How do I stop the child? How do I keep the Timeline from ending?"

~ ~ How indeed? ~ ~
(This is how Angel's school day would be like after she saw the child dust Papyrus in Angel's Alpha Timeline. I'm not entirely sure if I should put this in the story or just leave it here as an extra scene. Other people's input would be greatly appreciated!)
