Sixteen

"Ashton are you sure we shouldn't tell Michael?" I asked over the phone.

I had just gotten back from the pizza place we went to. While driving home, Ashton and I texted non stop so Michael wouldn't realise. And it turns out, we're giving us another try. And strangely I'm happier than ever.

"He'll hate me more and think I'll turn on you again. I think it's best we keep it a secret." Ashton said sternly.

"Okay I guess but he'll be angry when he finds out" I mumbled barely audible.

Me and Ashton continue to talk normally and fill each other in in what has been happened in our lives.

I log onto to Twitter and as I'm talking to Ashton I see a picture on my timeline of him and another girl. I clicked on the account and found the name Ashley Philips. And even though Ahston and I had only started things again, I couldn't help but feel jealous.

"Ash? Who's Ashley?" I attempted to ask smoothly but failed.

"Philips? She's my friend back at home. Yeah I'm gonna guess you saw the pic she tweeted - it's nothing babe. She's got a boyfriend anyways. I couldn't have her even if I tried. Honestly you know I wouldn't lie to you" Ashton reply making me feel better.

"Oh okay then I just wanted to make sure!" I let out a sigh of relief.

"Oh and listen babe, I think it's best we keep us as a low profile. I mean we haven't been seen together for ages. It'd just be weird if we were out again - and the whole Mikey thing. Do you get me yeah?!" Aston asked in a statement form.

"Yeah I get you. People might think it's weird."

It's been just over a month since Ashton and I've been together.

Michael is still oblivious to the entire situation and it's driving me crazy.

I feel like by not telling him about Ashton and I, I'm betraying our friendship.

It might not seem that serious to most people but it is to me, and I know it is to Michael.

He is the closest friend I have , next to Ashton and he never keeps anything from me.

Ashton makes me incredibly happy but keeping secrets from Michael is just to much.

I have to tell him.

"Jo! Are you ok, you've been staring at the game console for like twenty minutes. You're suppose to be telling my how good I am at GTA" Ashton wines causing me to laugh.

The boys have been staying in L.A while on break. There hotel is only 30 minutes from my apartment so I come over whenever Michael isn't home.

I feel terrible but it's just best not to think about it right now.

"Ash you suck at this game" I say laughing, " you've ran into ever single light pole and have been caught by the police twice. I got bored".

"That hurts" Ashton begins to fake cry and I roll my eyes playfully at his childish behavior before heading to the mini fridge.

Grabbing two cokes, I walk back over to sit on Ashton.

"Heeeeey so I was wondering-"

"No Jo, I already know what you're are going to say, we've talked about it before. It's not a good idea- move on" Ashton cuts me off.

Every time I want to talk to Ash about telling Michael that we are together he gets super defensive.

I sigh before getting up "Fine".

Ash immediately pulls a frown face.

"Jo please don't be upset, you know this is for the best"

He smiles at me and pokes my face.

I can't fight it and smile back "I know Ash, it's just Mikey's my best friend and it feels wrong, but I get it."

"Ok please try not to think about it, I'm going to go grab a pizza from down the street. I'll be back in 15 minutes, don't miss me to much ok?" Ashton giggles while grabbing his wallet and shoes.

"Don't worry I won't" I playfully shout as he disappears behind the door.

It's been over an hour since Ashton has been gone, I tried texting him but he didn't answer.

I was getting tired so I grabbed my things, but not before the front door began to open.

"Jo? What are you doing here" Michael walked over to me sporting a confused look.

"Psssssht whaaaaaat? Me? What do you mean what am I don't here... I could ask you the same question?!" I mumbled nervously.

"Jo what's up? Why are you lying?"

Michael looked at me with that stupid look that he does before he makes me confess things and I couldn't handle it.

" Joooooo?" Michael tries again.

"ASHTON AND I HAVE BEEN DATING FOR OVER A MONTH NOW AND I DIDNT TELL YOU BECAUSE I WAS SCARED AND ASHTON DIDNT WANT ME TO AND I DIDNT WANT YOU TO BE MAD BUT YOURE MY BEST FRIEND AND I FEEL TERRIBLE!" I gasped for air, "please don't be upset with me."

Michael seemed to be contemplating what I said and stared blankly at me for what seemed like forever. I was just about to speak again before a frown overtook his face.

"Jo.... Ashton has been dating some girl named Ashley for the last two months. I though you knew"

"What?"
