diamonds

my damp eyelashes glisten
in the moonlight, as i try
to blink out the tears that
strangely comfort me as i cry.

they fall from my eyes, streaking
down my cheeks, glittering,
as if it were raining diamonds,
as i watch the pale stars flickering.

my heart aches for answers as
solid and true as these gems;
shimmering with hopeful fairy dust,
showing me the world through a watery lens.
