"Rui!" A little demon called out to her older brother, who was hanging in his threads from the top of some trees. Rui glanced down to see his little sister, making grabby hands at him. He chuckled softly and climbed down his threads all the way to his little sister, still making grabby hands for him.
When he was within arms reach of his little sister he carefully picked her up as she held his collar. She grinned at him as she began yanking on his collar a bit before ultimately wrapping her arms around his neck, bringing him into a hug as she buried her face in his neck.
She giggled as she felt him stiffened for a split second before he pulled her closer to him, a way to hug her when he was holding her in his arms. After some time, Rui began walking with his little sister in his hands as she cuddled closer to him, almost seeming like she was trying to sleep on him but she was wide awake.
"How has your day been?" She asked, not liking the silence too much. "It was alright but now it's better since you're here." He said, making his little sister bury her face more into his neck from slight bashfulness. She was overjoyed her mere presence made him better.
Silence over took the two again as all was heard were Rui's feet walking against leaves and grass, crickets making their usual chirps, bushes rustling here and there, the wind picking up at times. Typical stuff. It wasn't too surprising that she fell asleep on him, this was common when she laid down for too long, especially on Rui.

By time she had woken up she recognized her surroundings. The wear downed building that inhabited the people who she came around to call 'family'. She tried to sit up and stretch but she was restricted by something from allowing her to do so. She glanced upwards and saw Rui, sleeping.
He had his hands around her small torso and had her pulled close to him, nearly too close. His breathing was shallow and calm as it should be when you're asleep. She watched him sleep since apparently she couldn't get up, nothing better to do or so she thought. She watched as a stray piece of hair came down to face.
It began tickling his face as he began to move his face a little to stop it however the piece of hair was being relentless and it continued. She wiggled her small arm from between them to remove the piece of hair and put it behind his hair however her hand stayed on his head.
She began to rub his head and at random times would pat him. She grinned as he began to stir a little but ultimately was still sound asleep. She brought her other hand from underneath her to pat his head as well. Playing with his white locks. She found this fun until she became bored for doing it after a little while.
She was about to retract her hands when she froze. He was breathing heavily, small sweat began to form on his forehead and his grip on her tightened. It began to hurt after his somewhat gentle grip became a tight grip. She began to shake his head in an attempt to wake him up however his drowsy minds was persistent on staying asleep. Rui however seemed more pressed to wake up.
Obviously a nightmare. Even she knew that. This wasn't the first time something like this has happened, it was the fourth time. He'd have nightmares when he was seemingly having a nice lucid dream until it began to show on his physical features.
But...something was different this time. Out of nowhere he began to cry, tears rolling down his pale face. He began whimpering as small sobs soon found their way out his quivering mouth.
The little demon girl whimpered in pain as the tight grip became a death grip. She nearly had a hard time breathing since his hold became too tight for anyone's comfort.
She placed both her small hands on his hands that was wrapped around her and tried to push and attempt to pry herself out of his death grip, however his grip didn't budge in the slightest. If anything it got even tighter, somehow.
Breathing soon became a trial to her, he was beginning to crush her. She didn't really want to call out to him however at this rate it seems like that may be the only way out of this. "Rui!" She yelled out. His eyes shot open and he jumped away from her, cold sweat coming from his forehead.
The small demon girl and older brother began taking deep breaths, however the demon girl needed it most. She began heaving from the lack of oxygen. Rui soon caught his breath however the tears kept coming. His sister soon came over to him and embraced him, his head hugged close to her chest as she had his head wrapped in her small arms.
He wrapped his arms around her torso, nearly squeezing too hard. However he kept his strength in check. Soon his gentle tears turned into sobs then full on wails of anguish. He hugged his sister tighter, afraid she'll be gone, dead like their mother and father.
The mere thought had his tears stream faster and his wails louder. The young sister soon retracted from the hug and looked her brother in the eyes. He was still crying. She placed her hands on his cheeks and slowly made it up to his eyes, where she began to wipe his tears. His crying eased up and his wailing ceased.
This caused a grin to appear on the demon girls face. She soon had her hands travel to his cheeks again, pressing them upwards, forming a makeshift smile on Rui's face. "Come on Rui, don't cry. You still have me!" She grinned even more, however tears pricked her eyes.
She wasn't stupid, she knew why he was so distressed. Their parents, she also knew what happened to them, atleast she thinks she does. They're just sleeping, hibernating. Is what she always told herself.
Rui sniffed, hard, from all the snot that probably build up in his nose. He began wiping his tears off. After some time he looked his sister in the eyes and gave a gentle smile.
