Jughead wakes up to the heavenly smell of bacon. His head is throbbing, and he is deeply regretting the alcohol consumed the night prior. His stomach growls hard and he's thankful for whoever decided to grace him with breakfast. A slight turn to the right lets him know the answer is not Toni or Sweet Pea. They are both soundly asleep beside him. A glance to the bedside table for the alarm clock and Jughead is instead met with his pain meds, a bottle of aspirin and three bottles of Gatorade. He wants to thank his saviour who he presumes is Fangs. He swallows his pills washing them down with blue cherry. He had learned a while ago that Gatorade was essential for the Southside hangover cure. Embarrassment swallows Jughead whole as he remembers his visit to Veronica. He lost his damn mind last night. Thankfully it's only Saturday and he can probably avoid her at least until Monday. He blames the vivid dreams that plagued him in his month-long slumber for his actions. His body aches as he pulls himself out of the bed. He hates how slow his body moves after a month of being bedridden. Jughead limps his way into the kitchen where he is greeted with the sight of his father and Fangs working in tandem to make breakfast. He and Fangs pound fist as FP slides him a plate stacked with bacon.
"Are you guys angels?" Jughead manages to ask around a mouth full of bacon.
"Nope just know you too well." Fangs answers. "And a thank you for getting me into a bed last night."
"Just happy to have my boy home." Says FP "Place has been too quiet without you ranting about Hiram." his father chuckles.
"He's still a problem dad. I'm just happy he hasn't made a move since I've been out." Jughead tells his father.
"Probably because the whole town has had their eyes on him since your accident." Says Fangs who FP shoots a glare.
"We have to figure out his plan before he makes that move." Jughead announces.
"You just got home Jug leave it be." FP tells his son.
"I can't dad. We have to make sure Hiram can't bury us."
FP sighs loudly rubbing his hands down his face. Jughead fights the urge to do the same. Jughead hates that his father keeps bowing out of fighting with Hiram. He understands the weight of the Serpents has put some cracks in his father's spine, but Jughead feels that if his father cannot handle the reigns anymore, he should step down. The problem is the question of who would step up to lead next? Yes, the older Serpents are tough as nails and very stuck in their ways, but none of them seem inclined to lead. The fire seems to have been snuffed out of the older generation. This fight seems more and more likely to be up to the young Serpents to take up. Jughead would have to make sure they didn't fall into the same complacency. Jughead feels arms wrap him from behind and is embraced with the light scent of coconut and lavender.
"I'm so happy you're here." Toni says softly.
"Bacon?" He offers holding up a piece of bacon up to her. Everyone in the kitchen shares a laugh as Toni grabs the bacon out his hand with her teeth.
