Standing that close to her, touching her, it made my heart crack. I didn't want to let go of her. I didn't want to back away and let her get away again but I had to; at least for now. I would get her back into my arms eventually but she was still so careful around me.

Her guards were up and she was trying her hardest not to let me in. She slipped a few times and admitted she still felt things for me. I knew she still felt things for me without her telling me though. I could tell by the way she looked at me and I never wanted to her to stop looking at me like that.

"Can I take you out for dinner tonight?" I asked her as I let go of her arms and she backed up a little putting space between us.

"What?" she asked.

"I need to explain a lot of things to you and we have to talk about so much. We can do it over dinner" I offered.

Her eyes flickered to the floor and then she met my gaze. Her mind was fighting a war with her heart. She didn't want to say yes but she didn't want to say no. I hoped she wouldn't say no, I didn't want to leave her tonight until I made myself absolutely clear about everything.

"No" she said, "I don't want to go to dinner with you, Sam."

"Then can I cook you dinner?" I asked. I was willing to do anything to get her to talk to me.

"No, that's the same thing as going out to eat. I won't go on a date with you."

"Did I say it was a date?" I grinned at her.

Her face reddened and for her sake, I pretended to ignore it. "A romantic dinner? Sounds like a date to me." She turned around and started fidgeting with her baking supplies.

My gaze traveled down to her fine ass. I was never with her just for her body but it certainly helped. I'd be fine with just holding her hand but the girl was an animal in bed.

"It doesn't have to be romantic. I mean, I know I'm charming and all," she rolled her eyes, "but it won't be romantic. We'll just talk."

She looked to be considering it. "I don't know, Sam" she bit her lip and it drove me crazy.

"You have to be willing to talk, though. No holding back."

"You don't have a right to my feelings" she said and it stung how true it was.

I left without bothering to make sure she was okay.

"It's like a fence, Jade. If you let me into your side, I'll let you into mine. I'll tell you everything you want to know. Don't pretend you don't care, I know that you want to know everything I'm thinking and everything I was thinking when I left."

Her face looked like it was in serious consideration and I felt my heart speeding up with the possibility she would say yes and I would get to take her out.

"Please, Jade. I need to know how you're feeling. One second you're telling me it doesn't hurt and then next you're telling me you're hurt so bad."

Her face dropped as she remembered something, "I-I can't go to dinner with you" her face looked pained, "I have something tonight."

I looked at her questioningly, "care to share?"

"Not really."
