~Sophia's POV~
I continued to make my way out of the corridor. It was bustling with all types of students trying to get to their second classes of the day. My shoulders brushed other students going in the opposite direction. I kept pushing my way through. I was about halfway down the hallway when I heard a familiar deep voice yell "Oi, Sophia!" I turned to see Harry Potter waving me over to where he, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger were standing by the stained glass windows. I forced my way through the crowd over to them.
"Hey, guys. What's going on," I asked. They didn't respond right away and Ron and Hermione just looked at Harry like they were waiting for him to say something themselves.
"Harry is everything alright?" I said concerned. Harry and I weren't close but we cared about each other's well-being. Same with Ron and Hermione. I could tell something was wrong.
"You're going to dark arts next right?" he said while furrowing his brow and squinting his eyes slightly.
"Yeah. You guys just came from there right? How's the new professor?"
With that question, they all looked at one another, and then Ron and Hermione looked at Harry again. It almost seemed like they were scared to answer me.
"Sophia, she's completely irrational. We can't even use magic. All we're going to do is read from a novice textbook," Harry said.
I was in complete shock for the second time today. No magic during class? She can't be serious.
"She even gave Harry detention for talking about you know who. I'm all for a firm hand, but she's taking it too far," Hermione whispered, careful not to be overheard by Mr. Filch who was telling off a group of Hufflepuffs for "lolly-gagging" in the corridors.
"Yeah, and you know when Hermione says it's too much, it's gotta be mental," Ron chimed in which earned him an eye-roll from Hermione along with a "thanks, Ronald."
"What're you guys saying? Are we just not going to learn how to defend ourselves," I asked with a twinge of nervousness.
"Apparently not. She said 'there's nothing out there'. You know as much as we do that he is out there and getting stronger," Harry stated while crossing his arms. I knew exactly who he meant by "he". Harry's eyes were severe and I could tell he was seriously concerned.
"What're you going to do about her, Harry?" I asked him and all three of us looked at him again.
"I'm going to write to Sirius tonight and ask his advice. I'm not sure there's much we can do right now. Just keep your head down for now," Harry responded with a nod and toothless smile before walking off. Hermione gave a small smile as well and Ron gave a wave before following Harry.
I took that vital bit of information with me while I turned and continued my way to class. The hallways had cleared out some and classes started filling up. I proceeded to walk down the twisting and twirling corridors. I could hear the paintings talking about the "plaster of pink" that has taken over the defense against the dark arts classroom. I walked up about 2 flights of stairs and 3 more corridors until I finally reached the classroom. I walked in and sure enough, Professor Pink Puffball was sitting at the front of the classroom. She was a small woman. Couldn't be more than two inches over 5 feet tall. She twiddled her wand in her hand while grinning at the students. She had a blank stare on her face while she gazed out over the crowd in front of her. Her eyes looked determined like she was going to accomplish whatever she was here to do.
