~Nobody's POV~

________________________________________________________________________________

"Crucio"

The man dropped to the floor, writhing in agony. He was begging for any sort of release, no matter how small. A woman was trying to comfort him from his excruciating pain. She looked at the man in front of her, whose wand was the source of her husband's torture.

"Stop it, please! You'll kill him!"

The man looked down at the small woman cowering below him. He fed off of her fear. Enjoying every torturous moment. Every crack that signified a bone-breaking just made him want to inflict more pain.

"Oh, I intend to. Don't look so miserable. You'll join him once you've encountered so much pain that you beg for the sweet release of death."

The woman tried to remain as quiet as possible, her daughter was in the house. At that moment, all she could think about was the fact that she was going to die in her own house that very night. She was going to leave her child without being able to tell her everything she needed to know about this cruel and unforgiving world.

"NO!"

TW: Emetophobia and mentions of suicide.

~Sophia's POV~

My eyes shot open as I sat up while clutching my chest. My heart was racing and my palms had nail marks on them. As soon as I became verticle my head gave off waves of pain. My hand shot to the side of my head as I let out a small wince. I looked at the green fire still roaring beside me,  only this time the flames seemed 10x brighter than usual.

"So this is a hangover? Maybe the twins weren't being dramatic."

I looked at the clock above me and it read 5:22 a.m. I slept for about 4 hours. I looked around to see if there was anyone up yet. There was nobody in sight. I grabbed the side of the couch next to me and pulled myself up to stand. I immediately felt sick to my stomach. The nausea sent shivers down my spine and arms as I tried to steady myself. I wrapped my arms around my abdomen and continued to walk back to the dorms. Since nobody would be awake for about another half hour, I decided to go ahead and sneak into the showers. Both boys and girls in the same year shared a bathroom, but as long as I got in and out fast, everyone would still be asleep by the time I finished.

I started walking towards the dorm stairs. The sun was still set. I could tell because there were no rays of light seeping through the black lake as I looked out the window.  I crept around the corner when I saw the light shining out from Malfoy's dorm again. As soon as I saw the initials "D.M." carved into the wooden door, all the memories from last night came flooding back. The fighting, the cruel words, the blank expressions, all of it came right to the front of my mind. My palm flew to my mouth again as I remembered what I said to him.

"What possessed me to even think those words nevermind say them? " I thought to myself as my breath started to shake.

I just stood there utterly stupid, staring at his door, continuing to recall the events that unfolded last night.

"Why the bloody hell did I say that? Good Godric potions class should be interesting. I'm done. I will literally pitch myself off the-"

A shadow started to sneak towards the door, showing movement inside the dorm. The shadow caused me to interrupt my thoughts and run towards the girl's dormitory. My bare feet slapped the cold stone as I ran up the stairs, trying to avoid any more embarrassment. I only stopped running when I was about to literally burst through the dormitory door. I stopped and gathered my thoughts while trying to catch my breath. I peered down to look under the door. No light, no noise, no signs of movement. I was in the clear. The door creaked as I slowly pushed it open, careful not to wake the others. I tiptoed to my trunk and knelt down to open it. The locks snapped open and I shot my eyes up to see if it woke anyone. To my left, Tracey Davis started to stir. I kept my eyes on her as I held my breath, careful not to make a sound. Tracey slowly flipped to her other side and then became still. I breathed a sigh of relief and continued to open my trunk. I grabbed my robes, wand, and toiletries and made my way back to the common room. I knew if I wanted to have time to myself uninterrupted, I needed to get to the bathrooms sooner rather than later. I closed my eyes and pictured the 5th year bathrooms. One second and a loud snap later I was there.
