Y/N POV. This is the first one-shot of this book! Also, this is very long.
I was the captain's daughter. He didn't really care about me. He wanted a boy but got me instead. I was trained in combat and was one of the smartest kids ever. I had secretly joined the ABC Cafe. I was a revolutionary. The only ones who knew my secret were Enjolras and Jehan. Enjolras spent 2 weeks trying to trust me again. He did eventually. I was chilling at the barricade. The barricade had been made 2 days ago. I was sharpening my cutlass. It was a present from my best friend and crush Courfeyrac. We had sent someone to go and spy on the opposing side. I had immanently volunteered but they chose someone older. I knew that Enjolras didn't want me to go because of my father. I had already polished my musket and loaded it so that was out of the way. I was on lookout duty in case the other side came to attack. It was my job for tonight until the first fight. I had a little podium that I made myself. It had a stand that I could sit on and a small gap where I could see out of or and shoot people from the government. Then I heard some rustling. I looked through my hole and saw the spy we had sent. "Enjolras!" I yelled down. He looked up from talking to Joly. "He's back!" I hollered. He nodded and went to see who this person was. It could be a decoy for all we know. I pulled out my gun and aimed at his head. He put his hands up in surrender.
"Listen, my friends, I have done as I said. I have been to their lines, I have counted each man. I will tell what I can." he admitted. Enjolras nodded and let him into our base. I reluctantly lowered my gun. Everyone but their weapons away. I secretly put my cutlass behind my back. Enjolras nodded at the man to go on. He looked very familiar. "Let it be warned they have armies to spare and our danger is real. We will need all our cunning to them to heel. have faith, if you know what their movements are we'll spoil their game. There are ways that people can fight. We shall overcome their power! I have overheard their plans. There will be no attack tonight. They intend to starve you out before they start a proper fight." he told Enjolras. I took a closer look at his face. Then it hit me. It was Inspector Javert! I needed to tell the others or he would tell false information. "Concentrate their force, hit us when it's light." he lied.
"Liar!" I yelled. He looked up at me and stared. Enjolras looked at me confused. All eyes fell on me. "Good evening dear inspector," I said tipping my hat at him. "Lovely evening my dear," I grumbled. "I know this man my friends his name's inspector Javert," I addressed. All of my friends ran and held him back. "So don't believe a thing he says 'cause none of it's true. This only goes to show what girls can do." I finished. I jumped down and Courfeyrac smiled at me. He patted my back and then went back to holding Javert. "Bravo Y/N. You're the top of the class," he complimented me. "So what are we going to do with this snake in the grass?"Joly asked. "Take this man and throw him in the tavern and then the people will decide their fate inspector Javert," Enjolras declared. Javert replied, "Shoot me now or shoot me later, every schoolboy to his sport. Death to each and every traitor. I renounce your people's court,".
Then he threw Joly off one arm and Courfeyrac off the other. They were both lying on the floor. Then he pulled out a pistol and aimed it at Enjolras. When Grantaire tried to step in front the gun was aimed at him. He scurried away. All of the men were trying to find their weapons. I got there faster. I pulled out my cutlass, sprinted to Javert, and held the knife at his chest. "Didn't your father teach ya not to bring a sword to a gunfight?" he asked. I smirked at him and held my arms out. He shot at me and a nerf bullet flew at me. I caught it mid-air. "It seems that you have the wrong gun," I told him holding up his real gun. He clapped slowly. "It seems that you still have your father's skill Y/N. I hope that one day you'll use it for a better cause" he told me. Then he ran off into the moonlight.
While everyone was tending to Enjolras and an unconscious Joly, Courfeyrac came to me. "Hey," he said. I looked up at him and smiled. "I heard what Javert said. So how do you know him?" Courfeyrac asked. "Promise you won't hate me," I said. "Promise," he replied. "I'm the daughter of the leader of the king's army also known as the captain," I muttered looking down. It was barely audible but Courfeyrac heard it. His eyes widened. "What," he whisper-yelled. I nodded. He processed this and nodded back at me. "It's okay Y/N I'll be there for you. I don't care, I love you," he told me. I smiled, kissed him on the cheek, and went up to my podium leaving him red.
Courfeyrac's POV.
She kissed me! I can't beleive it! My crush likes me back. I put my hand up to where she kissed me. I was eternally squealing. Jehan walked over to me. "Dude, how do you feel?" he asked. I squeaked in reply and pointed at Y/N. He chuckled and nodded. Then he went to go and write a poem. This could be the beginning of a new relationship.
