The next morning Dean awoke with a pounding headache, feeling like he'd gone several rounds with his best friend, Jack. Of course he hadn't drank a drop, this was an after effect of the allergic reaction he'd had to the cat. He groaned and rolled over, throwing the covers off to head to the restroom. He padded down the hallway and into the bathroom. He did his business and rummaged through the medicine cabinet for some allergy pills. He found some at the very back, he pulled two out of the package and took them down dry. He headed for the kitchen to get some coffee, thinking that might help with his headache. Entering the kitchen he found Charlie sitting at the table with a plate of eggs and toast, and a cup of coffee next to her plate. He got his coffee and sat down opposite her.
"Hey Charlie" He said, his voice sounding rough from sleep.
"Hey Dean, how are you feeling? You look awful." She said, looking up at him from the newspaper in her hand.
"I feel like crap" He growled.
"Here" She said, reaching into her bag and pulling a couple pills out and handing them to him.
"What's that?" He said, looking at the pills like they might bite him.
"It will help with the headache" She insisted, shoving them into his hand. He looked at the pills cautiously, then decided to throw caution to the wind, shrugged, and popped them in his mouth drinking them down with the coffee. Twenty minutes later, his headache was gone, and so was every other ache and pain he may have had.
"Damn! I don't know what you just gave me Charlie, but I feel great!" He exclaimed. She laughed.
"Dean, I need to talk to you about Bobby" She said, sobering. He looked at her curiously.
"What's up?" He asked, but before Charlie could get the words out there was a loud crash, and the entire bunker shook.
"What the hell was that!?" Dean exclaimed, jumping up from his seat. Charlie followed suit, and the two of them ran from the kitchen, meeting up with Sam and Bobby in the hallway. They all looked at each other wide eyed.
"I think it came from the outside of the bunker" Sam said. The four of them ran for the stairs. Dean was the first one out the door, and he jumped back when he saw that there was a tree, a very large tree, laying up against the hill that the bunker had been built into, only a couple feet away from the entrance. He scanned his surroundings as Bobby, Sam and Charlie joined him. Finally he saw Cas standing a couple feet from the tree, head turned down and slightly to the left, eyes closed, fingers pinching the bridge of his nose. Then he saw Jo standing there wide eyed, mouth open.
"What the hell happened here?!" Dean exclaimed. Cas didn't answer Dean, instead he turned to Jo, and his eyes lit blue.
"Joanna Beth!" Cas exclaimed, "How many times do I have to tell you not to aim at the bunker when we train!" Jo bit her lip, and looked down at the ground.
"I'm sorry Uncle Cas" She said. Dean tipped his head down towards the ground, and bit his hand to hold back the laughter that threatened to come. Cas always got on him for being so hard on Jo. Now he was getting a taste, and Dean couldn't help but feel slightly vindicated in that moment.
"Move the tree, Jo!" Cas demanded. The other four moved to the right side of the bunker, so that they could see, but be out of harms way if Jo screwed this up again.
Jo turned to the tree, her eyes lit up, and she held out her hands. Her hands began to glow a pale yellow, and the tree began to levitate. Cas moved to the other side of Jo and stood there with his arms crossed, watching her. The tree started moving back towards Cas and Jo. At one point she started to bring it too quickly.
"Focus, Jo" Cas said, his voice almost a whisper. The tree slowed, and she placed it down on the other side of the hill.
"Very good" Cas said. The others came back out from beside the building, and Sam, Charlie and Bobby headed back inside.
Dean stood there and watched for a moment as Cas proceeded to show Jo the proper way to aim her power at her target. He smiled and headed back inside. Bobby met him mid way down the stairs.
"I'm going to the game store Dad, see you later!" He said as he headed up the stairs to the garage.
Dean chuckled, "Have fun!" He told him, and continued down the stairs.
As Dean came down the stairs, he found Charlie waiting at the bottom with her arms crossed in front of her chest.
"What on earth was all that about? You didn't tell me Jo had powers!" She exclaimed. Dean slowed as he came the rest of the way down, and looked at her guiltily.
"Yeah, uh, I forgot to tell you about that. She was sort of kidnapped by Lucifer about six months ago, and we found out two weeks ago that he injected her with Angel Grace, which somehow gave her powers." Dean shrugged. Charlie's eyes went wide and her mouth dropped open.
"She was kidnapped by Lucifer! And you didn't tell me!!" Charlie exclaimed. Dean flinched. Charlie glared.
"Dean Winchester, how dare you not tell me when my niece is kidnapped!" She said, hands on her hips.
"I'm sorry Charlie. It won't happen again." He said, taking her face and placing a kiss on her forehead. "Will you forgive your big brother's stupidity?" He asked, turning her head up to face him. She looked him in the eyes, and a smile spread across her face.
"I suppose" She said
"So what was it you wanted to talk to me about?" Dean said, stepping back from her.
"Oh yes, I almost forgot. We should sit." She said
They walked into the library and they each sat down at the table.
"Bobby came to me last night. He needs some help with some bullies" She said"Bullies? How does Bobby have bullies? The kid could take on the biggest baddest kid in school if he needed to. He's trained for crying out loud!" Dean said in surprise.
"Well, that's the thing. Bobby knows that, but he doesn't want to fight them because he said that he's afraid he would do some real damage if he did." She explained.
"That's kind of the point" Dean told her
"Dean!" She said sending a glare his way. Dean sighed.
"Okay, okay! Who are they? Where are they messing with him? They're on Summer break right now, so they can't be from school." He said
"You're right. They're picking on him down at the park." She informed him.
Jo walked in about then and overheard the conversation.
"Who's picking on who at the park?" She asked"Your brother has some bullies." Dean told her. She stopped and stared at Dean, an odd look crossing her face, then she narrowed her eyes.
"Oh does he now?" She said, more to herself, than to anyone in the room. Dean knew the look that had crossed her face. It was the protective sibling look, how could he not recognize it, he had had that look many times. She stood there processing the information her Father had just given her, and for a split second, her eyes lit green then faded.
"I'll kill them." She said suddenly, "No body messes with my twin, nobody!" Her eyes lit, and stayed lit this time. Her body pulsed with that pale yellow light, and the electricity in the room flickered. Dean glanced up, then back at Jo. She turned to leave the room, but Dean jumped up and grabbed her arm, pulling her back.
"Hey killer, slow your roll" Dean said, "I will take care of this."
"No, I-" Jo began, but Charlie was the one to cut her off.
"Jo, you should really let your Dad take care of this. These are human boys, not monsters. I don't think using your powers on them is a good idea." She said. Jo opened her mouth to argue, but shut it almost immediately. The room stopped flickering and the light around her died.
"Fine. But if it happens again, you won't stop me." She told her Father with a glare. Dean looked at her in surprise. At that, Jo turned on her heels and walked from the room, leaving Dean standing there stunned.
