The rest of the week was mad crazy for Nini. She had to make up stuff she had missed in her classes, luckily her professors were pretty understanding. She also had regained her piano lesson clients. And she was working on some more songs. She FaceTimed Ricky because he was in Canada doing several concerts, all containing Break My Heart and Fighter. He was going to be back on the weekend, and she couldn't wait. She missed him.

"I miss Ricky." Charlotte said at breakfast Friday morning.

Apparently she wasn't the only one.

"He'll be back tonight. We're gonna pick him up from the airport." she revealed.

Charlotte and Connor grinned and high-fived.

"But you have to be good at school." she said.

"I'm always good." Charlotte boasted.

"I know." Nini laughed, "I was talking to your brother."

"Hey!" Connor exclaimed, "I'm good too."

Nini and Charlotte gave him a look.

"Sometimes..." Connor added with a crooked grin.

"That's more like it." Nini said, "Now come on, finish your breakfast, we gotta go."

LINE BREAK

Nini only had one class on Friday in the morning, so she hit the library to finish an essay she had an extension on. She was typing like crazy when someone tapped her on the shoulder. She turned to see a girl that was in her Lit class, Sandra something.

"Hey Sandra." Nini said, "What's up?"

Sandra looked very uncomfortable.

"Are you ok?" Nini asked.

Sandra shoved a folded up piece of paper in her hand and muttered an apology before running off.

"What the-" Nini said.

She unfolded the paper and suddenly felt sick. She looked up to see everyone watching her. Tears stinging her eyes, she grabbed her things and ran. She didn't stop running until she had locked herself in her car. She gave a shout and slammed her fist on the steering wheel, startling herself when the horn blared. How could he do this to her? She looked at the picture again. Ricky was kissing another girl. How could she have been so stupid?

She drove to Kourt's place, and she rang the doorbell over and over.

"I'm coming! I'm coming!" Kourt shouted, opening the door. "Nini, what-"

Nini shoved the picture in Kourt's hand and pushed past her, collapsing on her friends couch. Kourt came and sat down next to her.

"Oh Nins." Kourt put her arms around the shaking brunette, "Do you want me to kill him for you?"

Nini let out a laugh.

"I'll think about it."

Her cell began to ring. She looked at the ID and let out a sob.

"It's him."

Kourt scowled and took the phone.

"Allow me." she said, pushing the talk button, "Listen you rat-bastard, don't you dare call Nini again! Don't go near her!"

Kourt snapped the phone shut.

"What am I going to tell the kids?" Nini groaned.

"For now, just tell them he's coming back later." Kourtney advised.

And that's just what Nini did. After she put the kids to bed, she curled up on the couch with her book.

Remember how I said that Ricky couldn't break my heart? I was wrong. So very wrong. And it's not just my heart this time. Charlotte and Connor will be crushed. He kissed another girl. He said this was real. I thought it was real.

A knock on her door interrupted her thoughts. She opened the door.

"Nini-" Ricky tried.

Nini shut the door quickly then leaned against it, breathing heavily.

"Nini please, let me explain." came Ricky's pleading voice.

She let silent tears roll down her face.

"Nini, please."

She wanted to open the door, but she forced herself away from the door. He knocked several more times, but finally he went away. Nini went back to her book, the perfect lyrics playing in her mind.

So call me naive
But I believe you're gonna be okay
And call me naive
But tomorrow, will be better than today
And if it's stupid to see the good in everything
Lord, help me please, help me to be naive
Na na na, na na
Na na na, na na
Na na na, na na, mmm
See, I believe
This life is something beautiful and sweet
I believe
That love pulls me to you like gravity
And if it's stupid to see the good in everything
I guess I'll plead, I'll plead guilty to being naive
Na na na, na na
Na na na, na na
Na na na, na na, mmm
And you could say I'm gullible
And I'm blind to all the lies and tragedies
I just think we focus all our time
On the poison and not the remedy
So call me naive
Say I'm living in a world of make believe
And call me naive
But I don't know another way to be
And if it's stupid to see the good in everything
Yeah, if it's stupid to see the good in everything
I'll say proudly, I'd rather be naive
Na na na, na na
Na na na, na na
Na na na, na na, mmm

She closed her book and her eyes. Her heart hurt.
