Run
Tommy and Tubbo were 16 now. They were still best friends and always were and always will be. Recently, a lot had happened. Wilbur, well a lot had happened to Wilbur. Him and Tommy made a new nation, had it taken away from them, made another new nation then, well, Wilbur snapped. He told Tommy that no one was with them. That Tubbo would leave him. Even though Tommy knew that this wasn’t true, he couldn’t help thinking about it late at night while falling asleep. Tubbo will leave you.
One day, he couldn’t stand it anymore. He went to Tubbo one day and they sat down at the bench and listened to some music. “Tubbo we need to go,” Tommy broke the silence. Tubbo looked back at him, confused, “What?” Tommy knew that Wilbur was planning to blow it up and he wanted to keep Tubbo safe. “Tubbo, we need to go. Wilburs going to try to blow up Manberg,”
He hated saying Manberg. It was L’Manberg, their special place. Tommy continued, “It’s not safe here anymore Tubbo. We have to get out of here, now.” Tubbo heard the urgency in his voice. Tubbo was confused. “W-Wilburs gonna, Wilburs gonna blow it up?” Tommy could tell that his friend was upset and he felt terrible having to make his friend so sad. “Yeah, he told me. We need to get out of here, Tubbo.” Tubbo nodded “Yeah, we do. When though? If we just disappear they’ll be worried! Imagine how they’d feel!”
Tommy thought about it. The only person who he could really think of who would miss them was their father but he was busy and hadn’t been seen in a while. Wilbur didn’t really seem to care about much these days other than blowing up Manberg and Techno was busy helping Wilbur try to take down Schlatt, the one who took it all away from them. The more he thought about it, the more he realized how much Tubbo would be missed. Everyone here loved Tubbo and would be upset if he left. Still, they needed to go.
“We should leave on Friday. We tell them that we’re going on a trip and that we’ll be back by what, like Saturday? That should give us enough time to get far away.” Tommy told Tubbo the plan that he had come up with. They would have two days before when they would leave. "And don’t tell anyone about this. Don’t even say it out loud. We can't risk someone hearing and telling Wilbur or, god forbid, Schlatt,” Tommy told Tubbo. They agreed and left to go back to their homes.
As Tommy got back to Pogtopia, Wilbur found him. “Tommy! Ah Tommy. Where have you been?” Wilbur asked him. Tommy could see the look in his eyes. He wasn’t the same Wilbur that he grew up with. This was a different person. Tommy didn’t know what they had done with his brother but he wanted him back. He missed him. “Well Tommy? Where have you been?” Tommy gulped. He was terrible at lying.
“I was with Tubbo,” Tommy told him the truth. He was planning on not including all the details so it wasn’t technically lying. “Tubbo? Why are you still hanging out with him? He’s going to drop you the second he can,” Wilbur told him again that Tubbo would leave him. “That's not true, Wilbur,” Tommy didn’t mean to say that out loud. Now Wilbur would bring it up even more.
“But it is Tommy! Nobody is with us anymore! Everyone is against us! That includes Tubbo, Tommy,” Wilbur paused to look at Tommy. He could see in Wilburs eyes. He looked scared, paranoid, and angry. Wilbur thought that they were the bad guys here. He continued, “Listen Tommy, I know that you care about Tubbo! You two have been friends forever but listen to me Tommy, Tubbo will drop you the seco-” “Wilbur stop it!” He was interrupted by Tommy. Wilbur looked at Tommy like he was one of the people who took L’Manberg away from them before turning away and leaving.
Tommy went and gathered his things, getting ready for Friday. He made sure to pack his music discs. After a little while, it got late so he went to sleep.
The next day, he spent most of his time getting materials that they would need on their journey. Things like plenty of food for until they could get a farm going. Sometimes, he would walk near town and would see Tubbo spending time with people. He assumed it was like a goodbye, a farewell. Like he was saying goodbye without saying it.
He saw Tubbo baking with Niki, hanging out with Fundy, and planting some flowers. Tommy made a book. He wrote small notes for people to read after he left. He didn’t know if they would ever see them though, but he didn’t care. This was his way of saying goodbye. He wrote notes to a good few people. His note to Wilbur was the longest. He wrote about how he was sorry, that he missed Wilbur, the old Wilbur, and that he shouldn’t blow it up, and lastly that he cared about him a lot and that he would miss him. At the end of every note he told them not to come looking for him and that he was safe.
As he finished up the notes, it was starting to get late so he went to sleep, ready for the next day. When Tommy woke up, he decided that he would go out to meet up with Tubbo before leaving.
On his way out, Wilbur saw him. “Tommy. Where are you going?” He couldn’t tell the emotion in his voice. It was almost as if he was stating it rather than asking a question. “I was going to head out today,” Tommy replied. He didn't know what he would say when he asked about it more. “Well what are you going to do today, Tommy? You need to be careful. You never know who you can trust.” He knew that he was talking about Tubbo. He could tell. “Yea Wilbur, I know,” Tommy said while trying to continue on his way out.
He felt something on his shoulder. He looked around to face Wilbur. “Listen Tommy, I know that you don’t want to believe it but I’m trying to keep you safe,” Wilbur told him. He shook off his hand and kept walking out. As he got closer to the bench, he saw Tubbo sitting there. “Hello Tubbo,” Tubbo looked behind him at Tommy and smiled at him “Hi Tommy!” he said. Tommy sat down beside him. “Are you ready?” “Yeah,” Tubbo responded. Tommy sighed. He didn’t want to leave everyone. This was his home! But he knew that it wasn’t safe and that they needed to leave. ‘I’ll go get my things then. We meet back here?” Tubbo responded “Yeah that sounds good,” They both nodded and
Tommy headed back to the ravine to grab his things. As he got back to his room, he wrote a note and placed it on top of the book and he set it on his bed. It was positioned where if you just looked in, you wouldn’t see it but if you went in the room and looked, you’d see it.
As he headed out, Wilbur saw him again. “Where are you going this time, Tommy?” “Tubbo and I are going on a trip. We should be back by Saturday,” Tommy told him. He started going out again, Wilbur stopped him. “Where are you going on a trip too? And why with Tubbo?” He hated the way he said Tubbo, like he was as bad as Schlatt. Wilbur knew that Tubbo was his best friend and that he would never leave him. “We were gonna explore some. We only really know this area of the world and we wanted to know what else there was,” He ignored the part about why he was going with Tubbo. He didn’t want his last memory of Wilbur to be getting into a fight. But this wasn’t Wilbur anymore. It hadn’t been for a while.
Before he left, he turned to Wilbur. “Look Wilbur, I know that you don’t trust anyone anymore but I trust Tubbo. I’ll be back by Saturday,” and Tommy went on his way to meet Tubbo at the bench.
As he got there, he saw Tubbo with a decent sized bag. When he got closer Tubbo motioned for Tommy to follow him and led him to two horses. “I got us some horses so we can go faster and farther!” Tubbo said. Tommy smiled. He hadn't thought about that. They got on a horse and started to ride off. Soon, Tommy started to cry. He was leaving everything he knew. He only had Tubbo.
