Future general Minnea Sword⚔️

All that is left for us, is battle and bloodshed. Through times of light, and times of darkness, we can see no difference. If I hold your hand, and you hold mine, will it all be over then? Don't let the sword of fate pierce though what we have built with words of love...

It's funny.
When you think everything is going to be fine, it never is.

"Co general Mina! There is an emergency!"

It was late evening, December ninth. We had only been at the castle for a day and a night, and everything had gone well. The knights had resumed their positions in the castle, and the staffs all had their own work to do. Zyr had locked himself in a study, working hard on whatever he could do of his paperwork, even during times of war. Princess Amalia was busy with relearning war protocol with Jackson, Clearblue and Daisy.

Everyone were busy and everyone were calm and collected, for once. Nothing seemed wrong, and I just spent my day being in charge of the knights and staff together with the duchess, while the others worked. It felt like living in the castle like this, for many years even, wouldn't be so bad. Although I knew that in reality, me and Jackson would probably be called out for war at some point, and Clearblue could end up becoming king and taking the highest position in the army.

So everyone would become busier if the war continued on, even Daisy. The royal couple would have to be wed hurriedly, and she would become pregnant, to secure the bloodline. Who knows what can happen to a king during times of war?

Even though the thought of all of this stressed me out, it didn't feel realistic. I didn't feel like any of this would ever happen, like it was too distant and dystopian.

But the day had passed, and evening had come faster than expected. Everything seemed calm until one of my most trusted knights ran into the stables where I stood, and reported on mysterious activity in the forest. I was shocked of course, but because of the serious times I didn't let that take over my emotions.

"Order everyone inside except for Jackson and the knights, all the royals in the most secure room of the palace, trust no one except the royals and Zyr . Armor yourselves and get on your horses, we have a battle ahead"

The knight saluted and ran off, while I got as many horses as I could ready, and dragged on whatever armor and weapons I could find. It wasn't long until I heard heavy footsteps from my knights and soldiers, including Jackson.

"What's the plan?"
Jackson ran into the stables with five other knights and soldiers, and he seemed to already be dressed in armored clothing. His steel sword looked dangerous and heavy in his hand, and somehow I felt a little better.

"Get as many horses out as you can, half of the group stays inside the castle courtyard, while the rest go check the situation. Jackson, is it okay if you lead the outside platoon?"

The knights and soldiers saluted, and ran off to get the horses from their stables, getting three or four each and bringing them outside. Jackson nodded calmly at my request, and got his own horse as I got mine. We jumped up on the same time, and rode out into the darkness of the courtyard.

"Half of you go with Jackson, the other half stays with me, go go!"

A few soldiers jumped up on their respective horses, all dressed in heavy armor and holding sharp swords. Jackson made a signal for them to follow him out the gate, while the rest stood put.

"The royal family must be protected at all costs, Richie and Thomas will make sure that they are safe, I trust you two with their lives now, understood?"

"Yes ma'am"
They saluted and ran inside, wearing full armor and carrying swords. They were my best knights, that I trusted the most after Jackson. Richie was good at making important last moment decisions, while Thomas was good at close combat and sword fighting. The two of them together created a magnificent team, that was essential for the royals safety.

"I want three archers surrounding the castle up there"
I pointed towards the stone wall that you could stand on and shoot enemies from. While gesturing towards three of the best archers, minus a fourth that went with Jackson, I continued talking.

"Two will be stationed by the entrance, and one will walk around, making sure that no enemy is surrounding the castle"
I gave them instructions and they saluted me and ran off towards the outdoor stairs.

"The rest will stay here, prepare to either defend the castle with your lives, or go out there and fight upon command!"

The soldiers and knights nodded, dividing themselves into teams and spreading out across the courtyard. I stood with two other knights by they entrance, waiting for the first possible attack.

Time passed by extremely slowly. Minutes felt like hours. I had been to battle before, I had seen the techniques and the bloodshed, I had also learned about it from my father all of my life. But for some reason, now felt more important than ever and my heart was beating harshly against my rib cage. Not only was I now in charge, together with Jackson. But I was in charge of the safety of the future kingdom, the princess, crown prince and his fiancé.

The thought of Daisy actually worried me the most. I hope Richie and Thomas had gotten her and the others to safety.

It wasn't long until one of the soldiers came back, requesting me. They had won the battle and captured the few ones that weren't killed. I got to take his horse, and left the oldest knight in charge.

"Jackson?"

I arrived deeper into the forest, where Jackson and a few other knights were standing among dead bodies and holding a few soldiers of the enemy. Two of them were injured, but Jackson and the rest seemed fine, just worn out.

"We captured them, it should be over now... let's see what they have to say"

Like his personality was flipped 180 degrees, he smirked maliciously at his enemies as they quivered in fear. I couldn't help but smile a little as well, mostly out of relief.

"Let's"
