Is it a false light or a hope for the future?

❄️🌨❄️

Time goes by fast when you are having fun. Between snowball fights, training together, hunting together and laughing together. Me and Clearblue took this escape mission almost like it was a luxury vacation.

In just a few days we managed to get closer than ever. We didn't talk about our feelings after that night, but we did come further. We would cuddle and cook and tell stories to one another, and I enjoyed every second of his presence.

Even if I had to train for a possible attack or so, he trained with me, and jokingly said that he would be the one protecting me. That might have been because he got his abs back, and was very proud of them. But nevertheless, I felt safe with him and happy with him, forgetting that we were in the middle of a war.

But it's good to let go sometimes, to see things from a new point of view and not loose sight of your happy side. That way I always fight better, without being stressed or nervous.

Currently we were sitting by the fire place, a little animal roasting by the fire. That was our meal for the day, they little innocent animal.

Our conversation slowly died down, and all that could be heard was his steady breathing. It was peaceful, until Clearblue decided to ruin the mood in the most unexpected way. He turned around and gave me a dangerous smile, and I squinted my eyes suspiciously. Without having a single bit of embarrassment, Clearblue climbed onto my lap and made himself comfortable.

All I could do was blush and settle with the though of having my crush so close to me, literally on me, but that sounds weird.

After awhile, the mood became peaceful again, and he took the meat from the fire and cut it in half. After I had gotten my share of food, we sat and ate happily.

The minutes ticked by, and it wasn't until an hour later that we decided to move. Just as Clearblue was about to cling to me and convince me into cuddling again, a knock was heard on the thin wooden door.

We hadn't seen other people for weeks, and jumped up in shock. Hesitantly we waited for whoever it was to go away, but  instead they knocked again, this time louder.

Frustratedly I told Clearblue to go upstairs and pack our belongings, in case we had to leave.

He was hesitant to leave me, but I picked up my sword and he look satisfied enough, running up the wooden staircase. When Clearblue was out of sight, I took a deep breath and opened the door.

Crown prince Clearblue
I kept my breathing quiet and quickly packed our things. It was only a few blankets and pieces of clothing, no food though. All the food we had was meat and water, but all of that was downstairs. At least Jackson didn't seem to be fighting, instead he was talking loudly with someone.

He had his sword, that all that mattered.

I had seen him in action, fighting both physically with fists and with a sword. He is so talented, there is no doubt that he can take on multiple enemies without worry, but I can't help but be nervous.

All these days have been so good for us. Sure, we were busy trying to survive the cold winter and constant threat from the outside, but we were happy together. It was just the two of us, hunting and training. We even slept in the same bed for heavens sake! How come all good things have to end so quickly?!

When I become king, I'll make sure no wars are brought upon our kingdom. Nobody dares to attack us, as long as we don't attack them like we always have. Times like these really make me miss the old days, when no worries were in sight. But you know, it's not like those moments were many during my childhood. I was always going to be king one day, and that has stopped me from doing anything I ever wanted.

This time, the only things I want is the safety of my people, and freedom to be with Jackson. And I'll make sure, that this time it will not be taken from me.

"What do you want"

Three men, all wearing palace uniforms. I knew them from the guard.

"The king has given out orders for the royal family to move up north, to miners city, Lady Daisy and Minnea Sword have already left"

How could I trust them? Well they were wearing uniforms from the palace, so it clear that they were on official duty and not treason.

"How can I know that you speak the truth, this is very serious, you understand, right?"

The soldiers immediately dug in their bags, pulling out a white letter with a red emblem on it. I squinted my eyes suspiciously at the letter while they pushed it in my direction.

"You'll see that it's a completely factual letter from the king. He has worded out the details and given you a map as well. We'll get going now, because we must go back to the palace"

And as quick as they came, they left. I stared at the disappearing figures on their horses with wide eyes. Are they really in that much of a hurry that they won't stay? I closed the door and stepped back inside. Why can't good things ever last? Why do they always have to change for the worse!?

"Clearblue? The soldiers have left!"

Clearblue walked down the stairs, holding our two bags in his hands. He looked at me questioningly.

"What did they want?"

I sighed and waved the letter slightly. He furrowed his eyebrows at the red emblem, seeing that it was from the king himself.

"We need to head north, kings orders"
