"We are gathered here today, because it's a day of sorrow"
The king begins his speech, and I secretly roll my eyes and look away.
"My son, my talented and kinglike son, Crown Prince Clearblue, has been murdered"
The crowd gasps. Tears form in their eyes and some of them hug each other in shock. The day suddenly gets colder, their hope is dead. Tears spring into my eyes as well. I will not let myself believe that all of my friends are dead. It just can't be true...
Maybe it's for the best if I just die. What more do I have in life than my friends? Who am I without them? Who am I to keep on living if I could not save them? It would not be living, it would be surviving.
"And these two men here! Are the cause of my sons death! They have brutally murdered my son, my daughter Amalia, my future daughter in law, and the generals daughter and this kingdoms finest knight, Jackson Winters"
At each name the crowd falls into more misery.
"So many great names are gone, because of them! They took my children away from me! They took our kingdoms finest warriors away from us! So today they are going to be hanged for their severe crimes!"
It seems almost as if the crowd doesn't care if we die or not. They are too deep in their misery to care. What will they do now? They have no trustworthy person left to hope for. I know I could just yell out that the king killed them, but what will it do? They won't believe me, and even if they do it can't bring them back. Finally tears flow out of my eyes. What kind of nightmare is this? Why has everyone around me left me behind?
The only thing I want now is for Teno to be let free. But that will not happen, of course not. I look up so that my tears will stop falling down.
Crown prince Clearblue
I looked around the surprisingly christmassy capital. Each house was decorated in red or green, and golden lights blinded our vision after days of nothing but snow and snow and snow.
We had covered ourselves in our blue coats, trying to look like any peasant on the street. They could not find out that we were alive yet. Things were going just like I have planned, not a single person looked our way while we rode down the Main Street. Jackson was awake too, but he was still riding on my horse. He was still too weak and tired to stay awake for long.
I held on to the saddle strings and kept my gaze down. Suddenly bells were heard in the background, signaling teh start of a gathering. I panicked and looked behind me where Amalia and Daisy and Mina were.
"We have to hurry up, follow my lead!"
I signaled my horse to go faster, and he galloped away. Jackson tensed and held onto the strings tighter, while the rest picked up the pace as well and rode after us. So much for being incognito, I thought as we increased the pace even more and I bent myself a little forward to ease on the wind resistance.
