Katie's P.O.V
White skinny jeans, one cyan and one yellow converse, a black and purple striped tank top, red bowler hat, black and red striped arm warmers. I held my guitar close, took a steady breath, heard Dylan's words of encouragement, and we took to the stage.
Nothing went wrong...
"... Tonight is a special night. It just happens to be the birthday of this guy over here!" Todd pointed to Stevie, as we were closing our set.
The crowd cheered, Stevie stood up, holding his sticks in the air, catching his breath. Dylan was stood on my left, as Todd got the room to sing 'Happy Birthday To You'.
We sung, also unplugging our guitars, with Eddie.I looked out at the crowd, seeing the room singing, some drinks held up in the air, smiling faces, and a guy stood by a pillar, with a intriguing smirk.
He had dusty blond hair, cut like Joe Elliott had his, in the early 2000s. He wore a black hoodie, with blue jeans, from what I could see of him. He seemed young. I wanna say 30 - 35 years old?Dylan nudged my arm, we took a final bow, and ran off the stage.
"Happy birthday to you!" I pointed at Stevie, as he followed behind Todd, coming into the dressing room.
He smiled and hugged me.
"EW! Sweaty!" I laughed, pushing him off me.
"Relax! Y're fine. Y're jus as sweaty!" Stevie laughed. We packed up our gear, when Stevie, Dylan, Eddie and I just looked at each other, before crashing onto the manky old couch that was in the room.
I was between Eddie and Dylan, with Stevie next to Eddie, sat on the end.
We were panting, sweating, and smiling."Best show ever." I leaned into Dylan.
"I can't disagree." He put his left arm around me.
"Right, I'm off!" Todd announced, fixing his hair in the mirror.
"You're what?" Dylan asked him, the mood suddenly changing.
"I'm off. I got a date." Todd replied, shrugging his black jacket on.
"Hold on! It's Stevie's birthday!" Eddie sat up, nudging Todd's shin, with his foot. The room wasn't huge, but enough for us five to fix ourselves up.
"Yeah, I know. Happy birthday, Stevie. See you guys later." Todd walked to the door.
"Hold up!"
"Wait a second, Todd!"
"Whoa!"
Eddie, Dylan and I all called for him, as he opened the door.
The guy in the hoodie was stood there, ready to knock. "Bad time..." He held his hands up and walked away.
"It's him." I heard Stevie whisper, as we watched the man walk.
"Peter Finley... Todd, you dickhead!" Dylan cried out. "That was our shot!"
Todd glared at Dylan. "I didn't do shit! If you want him that bad..." Todd walked out the room."You can't chase after him! We'll look desperate!" I called out, running after him.
Finley was talking to a woman, not far from the dressing room door. I saw Todd at the bar, talking to a girl, before he looked back at me.
He frowned, shaking his head. He wasn't gonna approach Peter Finley.
I sighed and nodded to him, as thanks, before letting him walk away."Kahie!" Stevie hurried over to me, holding my phone. "I's Joe!"
I took the phone and answered the call."Don't say anything! What would you do if Steven was a bit of an inconsiderate dickhead and left with some woman, straight after the show, without telling anyone in the band that he had a date!" I blabbered out.
Silence.
I held my phone back from my ear, seeing Joe was still on the line.
Stevie followed me outside the venue, taking the back door.
"Hello?" I asked.
"You told me not to say anything..." Joe snickered.
"Well, thank you very much!" I laughed, grabbing Stevie's hand and walking us over to a small wall, so we could sit, and be out of the way from the noise.
Joe laughed. "Katie, what happened? Is everything OK? Need me to come and get you? I was just calling to ask about Stevie's cake plans. Are you coming home tonight?"
"Uh, yeah... Um... Hell, I don't know anything anymore." I took my hat off and messed my hair up. "Joe, is Peter Finlay a big deal?"As I asked that I saw Eddie and Dylan walking out the venue, taking our gear to the van.
Stevie pulled out a cigarette from his jacket pocket and lit it, offering me one.
I shook my head, as Joe got back to me.
"Peter Finley, from EMI?"
"Yeah, him." I nodded, though he couldn't see me.
"It's not often he goes fishing for bands. Don't worry too much about him-"
"He heard Dylan and Todd arguing. He just said 'Bad time' and walked away." I sighed.
"Todd and Dylan need to have a talk. If Steven pulled a stunt like that, we'd all want to kill him. Forget it all for now. Come home. It's Stevie's birthday. I know you want him to be having a fun time." Joe frowned.
"Yeah. OK... We're on our way." I looked at the birthday boy.. . .
We were packed, Dylan went to collect our gigs pay, Eddie was ringing Maria, Stevie was smoking a blunt, in the back of the van, and I was leaning against the van, wondering where it all went wrong for us.
I tipped my head back and looked up at the stars. "Dad... Please, help us... They're all good guys and you know it." I whispered, seeing the Big Dipper. I remember sitting in the garden, with my dad, looking up at the stars. We made up stories...
"Miss Monroe?" I looked straight ahead, where the voice came from. "Hi, I'm Peter Finley. That was a great show!"
I looked at the guy. We still had a shot here...
"Thanks! I'm sorry about before. Lack of communication between us, but it's all getting sorted out as we speak." I don't know where that came from...
Peter smiled. "No worries. I was wondering if I could have a chat with yourself and your band?"
"Yeah, of course. When? Not everyone is here right now..." I looked around for Eddie.
"How about you call me, when you're free, we'll arrange something..." Peter handed me a card.
"Yeah, absolutely! I'll talk with the guys as soon as they're back!" I took the card, smiling at him.
"Who are y' talkin' tooo?" Stevie piped up, from the back.
"Ah, no one, mate! It's all good." I snickered, looking at Peter, who laughed with me.
"Be in touch!" Peter smiled, walking away.
"We will!" I smiled, seeing Dylan stood at the venue door, watching Peter walk away.
I held up his card and Dylan literally punched the air.
