The air was cold in my room, even though it was summer. Funny how the warmth never made it through the window. Someone knocked on my door. "Come in". When he walked in the first thing I noticed was that he had a new kefta. It was ebony black, and the cuffs were embroidered with black thread. The darkling sat down on my bed next to me.
"Hello, Lina". Lina. His pet name for me.
"If you wanted to see me you could have summoned me to your chambers," I state matter of factly. "And my name is Alina."
"Well Lina," he says completely ignoring me," I have news from the grand palace." Uggg.
"Is it another demonstration?" I sigh. At this point, I feel like I am on parade.
"No. The king has fallen ill so I am to be taking over for him." I shudder. The darkling, King? I won't survive a week.
" So what are your plans this time."
" I will be sending the Grisha to gather the nobles from Fjerda and Shu Han."
"Why?" I question.
"For another demonstration." I sigh. Why is this my life? He leaves me to my thoughts.
I make my way to Baghra's hut." Close the door girl, you're letting the heat out." She says, jabbing me in the knee. I smile, silently thanking her for being so normal. " So let's begin our lesson," I say. " Alright girl, let's begin."
