Mirais POV:
As the days passed, my mom continued to recover, whilst Arina and I focused on getting our grades up and thus we had to follow a precise schedule. But I didn't mind.My dad hasn't come home yet though, which makes me very worried about him. I don't think he's left the hospital even once yet. He didn't let me worry about him though, always saying that he was fine and that he just wanted to stay with my mum and keep her company.
On Monday, over a week after the accedent, Mari, Adrien and Nate joined us to the hospital, bringing flowers for my mother, as well as fruit.
After the visit we all hung out at my house, watching movies, building a pillow fort, eating a bunch of food. Just like when we were younger.
The next weekend, when I visited my mother alone, she seemed a lot better but acted a bit weird. Asking me questions about school, but somehow always warping to the topic of dating or Arina.
I left that day, worried.
But at least my dad was back home, resting and when I arrived, getting ready for work, "Oh, Mirai, just in time. I have to head out to work."
I smiled and nodded, "Be careful."
He nodded back, giving me a pat on the shoulder before moving past me to get to the car. Waving goodbye, I watched as the car traveled down the street, before disappearing around the corner.
When I entered and closed the door behind me, my eyes met with Arinas as she was going down the stairs.
"Dad just left for work."
She nodded, "Are you hungry? Ben and I made lunch."
"Starving.", I smiled and kissed the top of her head before taking her hand and walking to the kitchen together. We sat down, the mashed potatoes and salad in plates in front of us, but even though I was starving, I couldn't bring myself to eat. I was itching to tell Arina what my mother said.
"Do you not like it?", Arina asked, taking me out of my thoughts.
I shook my head, taking a bite of the food.
But Arina still seemed worried, "D-Did something happen? At the hospital? Is your mum okay?"
"She is. Don't worry. "
"Then?"
"I think she knows. About us."
Arina sighed, slouching in her chair, closing her eyes, "I think so too."
I sighed, putting my head in my hands, "What if she's upset that we didn't tell her?"
"She has every right to be.", Arina said and I felt her hand on my knee, "I'm so sorry. It I wasnt selfish, they wouldve known by now. Im really sorry Mirai."
I shrugged, dropping my hands and putting them over hers, "I just hope that, she's not too mad. And if anything, it's my fault. If I wasn't a damned coward, you would've known sooner."
Silence feel between the both of us, our hands interlocking on my lap, both of us staring down at them.
"Mirai. I-I should tell you.", she stammered, keeping her eyes to the floor.
"What?", I asked, looking over at her.
She looked so guilty.
"Sabrina, she um. She threatened to tell them.", she admitted after a bit of silence.
It felt like my heart stopped for a moment, my eyes wide like saucepans, "Wait, what?! How did she find out?"
"She had pictures of us holding hands. Said she would send them out if I did something wrong."
