Aone sat alone on the train, watching as people choose seats far away from him in fear, he wanted to be an average height, so people would stop being so afraid of him, but his wish was never granted.
Hinata got on the train, looking for people sitting alone. He liked sitting next to those kinds of people because there was always enough space, and most of the time they were pretty nice. He saw a tall platinum blonde sitting alone, and decided to try and figure out if they were safe to sit next to. It may have been a biased assumption, but he was small and kinda weak, so if they weren't safe he wouldn't be able to defend himself. He may not have been smart, but he was extremely observant, able to gauge situations in a matter of seconds.

Hinata decided to try and figure out how old they were, as it would make sense for an adult to be that height. He noticed the smooth face they sported, no frown or smile lines present, he noticed the school jacket, blue and white. Hinata kept gathering information, he noticed the school bag with journals neatly sticking out, all of that allowed him to figure out they were a high schooler, maybe a third year. They seemed to be purposely dormant, probably to not seem as scary. Hinata noticed the twitch of his thin lips, trying to stay in a neutral position, how he didn't shuffle or move much in an effort to seem tranquil. He noticed the way the male looked longingly at the people near him, as if he wished to be them, or the way he sat perfectly in the middle, leaving enough space for a person of any size to sit. He also noticed the way the tall males gaze tried to stay as soft as possible, not to scare anybody, or the way he looked at Hinata for only a second before looking away in an effort not to stare. Hinata summarized all he took in to himself one last time, they were a tall high schooler trying to be as non- threatening as possible in the hopes someone would sit next to them, and that person would be him. In less than five seconds he had gathered all the information he needed to choose his seat.
Aone was surprised to see that the short boy that just got on the train decided to sit next to him. He believed the boy just wasn't paying attention and scooted over to give him more space, as soon as he started moving the boy looked over and filled in the new space. He was small compared to Aone, but the boy didn't seem to be scared in the slightest. He wanted to say 'Hi' but knew from experience that his gruff voice and mean expression could scare even the nicest people away.
"Hi, my name's Hinata, what's yours?" The small boy, now known as Hinata, sounded about his age and he became a little more confident that they could become friends. "Aone Tanabou" He tried to speak quietly, because his regular volume could be a bit scary. "You seem like a high schooler, what school do you attend?" Most people assumed he was in his thirties or twenties, but they were always surprised when he turned out to be under 18. "Date Tech." The boy let out a sound that could only be described as 'uwahhh' before fanboying over the school. "Date Tech, They are so cool, I wish I could go there!" The boy started rambling and Aone tried, but his one word responses couldn't keep up with pace the boy was going. Hinata stopped, looked over, and rubbed the back of his head. "I am so sorry for rambling, Date Tech is just so cool. Oh, you don't seem to talk much. That's okay, I'll do all the talking if you'll listen." He looked over for Aone's answer, Aone was happy to have found someone who wasn't scared of him, and nodded a little harder than he usually would have.
They talked, well it was mostly Hinata, the whole train ride, and exchanged numbers before they left. They slowly became friends before the Date Tech Vs. Karasuno High, helping each other practice and improving their skills.
Before the game (the scene where Aone points out Asahi)
Aone gave in to his habit of focusing on the ace, a tall brown haired boy with his most noticable feature being his manbun, and pointed at him staring intently, the ace shrunk into himself. Aone stared for a few more moments before he heard a familiar ecstatic voice calling out his name, his eye twitched (a twitch that I get whenever I hear something interesting) and he turned his head to find the small middle blocker. When Aone located the source of the noise his face softened significantly and he bowed respectfully, something he did everytime he met the small orange haired male. Hinata returned the bow, having gotten used to Aone's wordless greetings. "It's great to see you again! I'm so excited to be playing against such a popular school, I wonder who will win. Anyways, see you on the court!" "Fair game." Aone meant to say 'I wish you a fair game' but the first part got lost from how soft his voice was, Hinata seemed to understand though. "Thanks!" Hinata waved frantically, happy to see the platinum blond again. Both of the teams left to where they needed to go.
Everybody on Karasuno wondered who that guy was and why Hinata was so friendly with him. "Hey, Boke, who was that?" Everybody let out sounds of agreement, and some comments on who they thought he was. "He looked really scary." "Hinata, how did you know him?" "Aone's not that scary, and I met him on the train." "How tall was he, he's even taller than me? And how old was he, he can't be our age with that kind of height." Hinata was getting kinda of annoyed at the comments they were making about Aone, they weren't the nicest. Of course that last comment was by Tsukkishima, the saltiest fry in the box. "Aone's 6'3.4, and he's 16, a second year. I don't think he would appreciate hearing you say these kinds of things about him." Everyone apologized, especially Asahi, as he knew what it felt like to be commented on. Tsukkishima stayed salty though, and made a comment about Hinata's level of intelligence. "Wow, big words coming from such a small brain." He, of course, got smacked by Sugawara, and was then forced to apologize because Suga wasn't playing.
Danger room (that bathroom scene)
Hinata made his way over to the bathroom scouting the area before going in.
Aone felt a dark aura and heard the usual signs of a fight. He made his way over to find the ginger trapped between a dispute of rival teams, sweating profusely. Hinata backed away until he felt a large shadow fall over him, he turned around slowly to see that it was just Aone and quickly rushed to hide behind the tall snow blonde's legs.
Aone didn't like how quickly the small blocker moved behind his legs, and got a bit annoyed. He glared mildly at the group making trouble, and when he grabbed their attention, he looked behind himself to see Hinata still hiding and turned back before speaking clearly, instead of quietly. "Stop. Fighting. Break It Up."
They all mumbled stuff about 'how it was ___ fault'. The audience dispersed quickly, afraid of what the tall male might do to them. "Thank you so much Aone!" Aone nodded in response, "That was so cool!" "It's nothing." "It was something, you scared then away because they were bothering me right?" Aone looked away, but still nodded
