Light bounced off the shimmering waves as Cotton watered the winter plants, humming a simple ditty. Flecks of snow and sunshine sparkled over Icetonia's capital, leading a cool wind to brush against her pale cheeks.
Setting the bowl of water down, the lavender haired lass leaned against the wooden ledge of the balcony, relaxing over the wintry sights.
Today seemed like another good day to be productive. It's been a month since her Husband left the house. Seeing him off that morning had really kicked in her energy. However, the last seven days aggressively ate away on her sadness.
Oh how she missed Louis. It just never felt right without him.
Taking a deep breath, she stretched out her arms, retreating the depressing thoughts into the back of her head, when a familiar translucent bird fluttered into her view.
Could it be..?
Outstretching her hands, she eagerly gathered the Messaging Artifact into her grasps, calmly watching the fledgling evaporate into an Enchanted Rhodonite.
Unlike the first encounter Cotton had with the Artifact, she had become immune with the unsettling flickering the magic would create in the creature. Overtime, the scene before her would become more compelling and eye catching. Thus, ending her fear of the sizzling pink Messenger Bird.
Opening the parchment attached to the Enchantment, her ocean-blue orbs hungrily traced every word. Her heart pulsed softly against her chest as his words embraced her mind. Oh~ How sweet the man was. It honestly made her wonder if her whole life was just a far away dream...
At the news he delivered, Cotton smiled widely with interest. Louis would finally return after the seventh day of the current month, and Icetonia's annual Winter Ball and Summer Festival will soon be announced a some time after his trip, which meant that the Knight was finally free for the rest of the weekend!
The lavender haired woman squealed under her breath, gripping the Enchanted Tiger Jasper securely in her excited hands as she retreated back inside.
She would finally see her Husband again! He must be close to the shore now!
Still, the young Wife couldn't help but frown at the news of the Ball. It was a shame that the event only catered to Nobles. She could just imagine the scene-- His strong arms wrapped around her, the two dancing within the moonlight, twirling under the stars and lights!
Even if we cannot dance there, at least the Summer Festival will be a joy. She thought brightly, closing the balcony door behind her with a giddy smile. I best finish my chores before Louis arrives.
She tidied up the apartment, vigorously wiping away dirt and sweeping straw out the door. Her Husband would be arriving from the east in just a couple of hours, and the Estlands are far beyond the lengthy seas. Surely, after all those months away and traveling, no sane human would wish to stagger back into a pigsty!
While organizing her materials for dinner, she couldn't help but wonder back to her Husband's safety.
He was returning from another Kingdom, guarding the Ambassador of Icetonia. How can there not be an enemy hiding near them to strangle their evil hands on them. Is he safe? Was he eating alright? What if he was wounded? Or maybe perhaps even taken for ransom!
Shaking her head from those dark thoughts, the lavender haired woman washed her hands clean to prepare the meal. "Get it together, he's fine, don't worry.." Cotton whispered to herself as she washed veggies in a wooden bin, her brows furiously scrunched in concern. "He'll be alright. Louis is always well."
