Silver specks glittered across the violet skies of Icetonia. Enchanted torch flames flickered in the darkness as candle lights from nearby homes snuffed away.
Entering the balcony, Cotton leaned against the wooden ledge, her ocean colored hues tracing the splattered galaxy above. Stifling a yawn, the lavender haired lass lifted her cup of piping hot Estland tea to her lips.
It was another melancholic week without her Husband. The Knight had made such a sudden haste to leave on his mission in the middle of the night, to where Cotton had almost thought they were readying for battle.
He held such a grave expression over his usually smiling face. The only time such a look appeared was when Icetonia and the Northwestern Providence had clashed heads. She hoped he was safe.
Shuddering from the memory, she blew into her cup and took another distracted sip. He'll be fine Cotton, do not fret. He's just going on a patrol! Her conscious comforts as the cold late winter wind frosted her nose.
A dangerous patrol. The young wife responded harshly, gripping her tea cup intensely. She remembered the exact words her Man had told when she asked what all the ruckus was.
She turned in her bed, scrunching her brows in discomfort from the clattering and clinking reverberating in the room. Rolling on her side to wrap her arms around her Husband's large form, the lavender haired woman blinked her eyes awake at the empty cold space beside her.
"Good morning my Sweet, you're up early." A heaving soft voice hastily greeted her as she rubbed her eyes off sleep.
"Mm.." Cotton tiredly responds, an amused gentle smile coating her lips as the shadow of her Man stepped out from the balcony. "Of course I was, no one could sleep with all the noise you were making..."
He quickly pivoted on his heels, grabbing a metallic stick leaning on his desk. "I'm sorry, please go back to rest." The silver haired Knight says, his tone gravely deep.
"Louis..?"
"Hmm?"
Her ocean hues shook at his professional appearance. "Why are you... Armor? Sword?"
"Me and my patrol are in need over the Southern fortress." Louis hesitantly answers, tying his fur cloak over his shoulders. "The Captain is desperate for more help since..."
"Since?" She tilted her head, gripping the sheets in confoundment.
Her Husband turned and beamed his usual smile to her startled face, leaning down to kiss her quivering lips. "I'll tell you later, I don't have any time. I love you, my sweet Honeydew."
"But--!"
Before she could finish her darn sentence, the tall man had already rushed down the stairs and swung open the heavy door. At the crashing slam that echoed in the now empty house, Cotton jolted fully awake.
Running distraughtly to the window, she spotted her precious Husband dashing away upon a saddled Reindeer. A group of other Knights surrounded him as they urgently galloped through the city.
She sighed in understanding upon the memory. She knew. She knew he had his duties but, it was just...
Clenching her fist against the edge of the balcony, Cotton bit the bottom of her lip in apprehension. She hoped he was healthy, well, and alright. Uninjured.
Gazing upon the glowing stars as they twinkled upon the blue night, she muttered a prayer as her Husband's handsome face appeared in her silent conscious. Her heart panged painfully as she imagined his optimistic beam fading away to nothing.
Cracking her teary blue eyes open, she imploringly raised her head to the gleaming moon.
Please. Please! The lavender haired woman begged. Please let him come back safe and sound...
Was he thinking about her as he says in his letters? Was he too gazing upon the same nightly skies in hope to be reunited? Or was he cornered on the fortress walls with spears stuck in either side of him??
Shaking the terrible musings away from her worried mind, a gust of gentle wind abruptly whisked past her shivering form. The young Wife squeaked, astound as the unforeseen appearance of a stringed letter dangled in her solemn face.
With a gasp, the lilac lass hastily pulled the parchment free from its hold and held it close to her chest with a troubled smile. Honestly. He really had to put it there, didn't he? It was like he knew where she was.
If only the stars could tell him how much she wished for his safety and warmth.

My Dearest Lady Cotton,
I hope you are in good spirits and health, my Darling. I'm sorry I was to leave in such a manner, but it was of great urgency. I promise when I return, it will only be you and I.
The captain has called for reinforcements upon Fortress Ain Bundin, for it seems another group of Brewers had hid there for quite a while. For now, they will be under the observance of the Queen.
During the time we guard Fortress Ain Bundin and the Brewers, we will be patrolling the Southern Border more frequently. I still cannot help but think that there is something strange taking place in Ignis.
The Captain has commanded that we station more Knights in case of Southern Soldiers coming to look for these Brewers. The Kingdom of Ignis have been acting quite suspicious for the last few months.
Take care my Honeydew. Oh how I pray by the stars that we shall be reunited once more. Stay safe my Love.
Forever Yours,
Your Handsome Husband in Shining Armor,
Louis.
