N I N E
Good Things End, Nancy

They say I did something bad
Then why's it feel so good?

IT WAS ONE IN THE MORNING WHEN LUKE'S DOORBELL RANG. He got up the bed tiredly, walking with one eye closed towards the entrance and opening the door, being surprised by Lauren standing there.

"Oh God, were you sleeping?" She was quick to ask, her smile slowly fading away.

"Yeah, I was... what are you doing here? It's one in the morning."

"Uhm... Well, I was walking through the streets and I saw this amazing costume store, with a perfect costume of, if you haven't guessed yet..."

She put on her head a blonde wig and took off her jacket, revealing her rockstar outfit that was quite revealing, making him looking at her confused.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"What do you mean with what? I'm Nancy Spungen. Sid Vicious girlfriend! Come on! Do I have to lay dead on the bathroom for you to recognize me?"

"I know that... why are you dressed like Nancy. Halloween was weeks ago." She chuckled.

"I thought it would be fun. But you aren't smiling," she was quick to put on her jacket. "It was my present for uhm, you know, we haven't seen each other in what? A week? I mean, you've been busy with work, Carrie and I have been preparing our presentation. I thought, I don't know, this would be fun. I bought you Sid's sunglasses." She took them out of her pocket, placing them on his face. He raised his eyebrows before taking them off slowly. "Woah, you are really not... happy to see me."

"I am, Lauren, it's just that tomorrow I have work early. I've been designing the space to create a live lounge in the music store. I have to talk to an contractor and everything, but I can put an stage there and it would be great." He exhaled. "You look amazing, though. Total Nancy."

"You know, Luke..." she whispered, taking off her wig. "I think it's time for us to stop... this."

He looked at her confused. "Grey, I didn't—"

"No, it's okay. It was fun, you know? But... it's not that fun anymore. Besides, winter break will start. I'm with finals, you have a new job, the band. Soon, the holiday will come and we will forget about each other. It was great, but it's better to end it this way before any of us get attach to the other."

Luke was staring at her for a few seconds before exhaling, nodding.

"Okay," he mumbled. "Do you want me to call you an Uber?"

"It's okay, I have Chase's bike," she replied. "Thanks, anyway. Goodnight, Luke."

"Night, Grey."

And with that, the girl left the building, holding on to that horrible feeling that made her heart ache.

Why? Why did it hurt so bad?

Luke wasn't feeling great either.

He was playing with Sid's sunglasses while the contractor view the store. He couldn't stop thinking about Lauren.
