Parasite
Fall—I think, I have known autumn too long.
The air feels refreshing and the leaves are gracefully descending. The colors around are vibrant and vivid—like a blazing fire, a bountiful harvest, shades of orange, gold, and amber. The nights are cool and there's a hint of fire in the air. It's as if nature wants to immerse you in a sea of colors, to fill you up before everything becomes dull and gloomy.
I thought I would protect and secure everything, to store my warmth and thoughts, and finding solace in a deep, safe place where I can defend what is important and precious to me. Then, the cold, storms, and darkness can do their worst. Everything is sealed shut for I had the foresight to prepare.
However, the fall I've experienced over the years is not what I imagined. It's surprising. It's unfamiliar. I wasn't prepared for what came after the fall. The autumn beauty blinded me, and now I find myself bare in the winter's embrace.
Just like right now, I didn't expect that someone would took my place in a snap.
Hindi ko maintindihan. Bulakbol ang taong iyon. Palaging late at laging nasa guidance office. First year pa lang ay usap usapan na siya. I really didn’t care much since he wasn’t exactly a star student. My attention was always on the smart ones, like Henry.
"Huwag kang mag-alala, Narra, isang puntos lang naman ang nilamang ni Lorenzo. " Sabi ni Mrs. Santos. "You still have your scholarship."
That's the point. It's just one point. One fucking point and now, he's on the spotlight. He took my place. That was my place.
"Akala ko nga ay wala ng pag-asa ang batang iyon. Palagi iyong pambato sa mga math contest noong elementary. Nagbulakbol lang nitong highschool."
Napahigpit ang hawak ko sa transparency report nang magsimulang magkwento ang adviser namin.
"Mabuti at natauhan nitong nakaraan. Sayang din kasi ang talent ng batang iyon."

We have different curriculum unlike the regular students. We're some sort of students belong to special and advance class. Kahit ang building namin ay hiwalay. Since first year, we already tackled about advance math and science. Every year, we also have research. We are being trained here to be the best. I might belong to Class B of this specialized section, atleast, I still managed to be on top.
