Two weeks later my presence is known in L.A. I'm back to usual schedule but with more hope. Luke keeps me updated but not much has happened. "Are you sure he's back in L.A.? I ask him one night over a steak dinner he had made for us. My parents planned to stay another month in Italy now that they retired.

"Yes I am positive. His father is back here hence the reason I'm here." I scowl and poke at a string bean. "I thought the reason you were here was because I might go after him again." He takes a sip of his wine and his brown eyes roll. As if he had any right to be upset. "That is one reason but there are many he didn't have time to name them all."

I push away my plate and spin my hair into a bun on the top of my head. "If looks could kill I would be frozen by those icy eyes of yours. What is your problem?" So many questions swirled though my head but I asked the one that wasn't really necessary. "What does he look like now?" Luke laughed and began clearing the island in the kitchen.

"If he was gay I would fuck the shit out of him." I snort. "That was the gayest shit I've ever heard you say." He waves a finger in my direction. "He's a lot stronger, more stable mentally and physically. His hair had grown out a little passed his ears and is kind of a curly mop. His eyes are still the same."

I flinch remembering the strong blue and green ocean eyes that made me weak. "He will come back to you Ava, don't worry about it."

"I'm not." I lie and help him clean up. He snorts and I sigh. "If you weren't so pretty to look at I would send my heels through your eye sockets." Luke laughs and I join him. Kristen was really the only person who I laughed with truly anymore. She came over at least two times a weak and we do yoga, a spa day, shopping, or even just sit in and watch a movie.

Luke of course was present through all of it with a frown on his face. He didn't like me going out but Hunter didn't give him any direct orders to not let me out. "He's been around you know. Watching you. You have to be more observant." I drop the knife I had been moving from the island to the dishwasher. "Does he really?" I whisper. Luke picks up the knife.

"Guess I shouldn't have told you that. But yes. I wasn't supposed to tell you, so if you see him which I doubt you will, you will ignore him unless he comes to you." I glare at Luke. "If I see him, there's no way I'm ignoring him." I take off my heels and head for the stairs. "You won't be able to see him!" Luke calls after me.

I smiled. I had learned a thing or two about blending in. Little did Luke know. He just gave me the perfect opportunity to find him. And I didn't even have to leave L.A.
