"Aang." I gasped as I sat up. My face markings burned slightly. I got dressed, put on my boots and ran out. It was early morning so the sun was just peaking. I slid through the snow down a slope and to Aang's home. I knocked on the makeshift door and bit my lip."Do you know how early it is?" Sokka said giving me a look.
"Where's Aang?" He let me in and pointed in the direction I was to find him. I walked over and went to Aang. I shook him lightly and bit my lip. "Aang." I pulled my hand back as I felt shocks roll up my arm and blushed.
"Kida? What are you doing here?" He sat up and rubbed his eyes.
"I umm can we please go talk?" He nodded and sat up. I blushed and turned away to let him put his shirt on then walked outside.
"What did you want to talk about?"
"I-the Fire nation...." my eyes shut recalling my dream. "They're coming and they're close. I don't know when they'll be here but I'm scared and I keep dreaming of a face and it's scary." He cupped my cheek and pulled my close.
"You are the strong way person I know. No matter what you'll be okay. I promise." He smiled down at me and I turned slightly.
"It's not just me I'm worried about.." my eyes met his as a blush blossomed on my cheeks. He leaned down and kissed my cheek.
"I won't let anyone get hurt. Would you like to continue walking?" I nodded and held his hand, intertwining our fingers as we walked.
*time skip*
"That's good Aang." I said as him and Katara sparred. He used his air bending as a sort of boost to his water. I looked at a heaving Katara and smiled softly. "Aang spare me. Katara take a breather. Then do 25 mini ice statues. Different poses."
"Ugh. Okay." I smiled and then she walked away. Me and Aang positioned ourself across from each other.
"Don't go easy on me. I'm going to use my bending." He nodded stiffly at my words and watched me. I punched the air and sent a gust of wind then swiped my foot quickly, the snow under him turning it to ice. He fell back and I giggled before trapping his hands and feet in ice. He groaned before melting it and then sent wind at me. I slid back catching my feet with ice.
"Kida?" I looked over to see my brother he pointed at my arm and I looked down and saw blood. I shrugged and stood up slightly. I built an ice wall behind me and jabbed the air sending ice spikes to the Avatar. I then took the wall and turned it into a wave before bringing my foot over sending the wave crashing into him.
"Done!" Both him and Katara screamed at the same time. I grinned and healed my arm. Yue and Sokka came running over.
"They're here." I tensed and then grabbed Aang's hand and ran to the ice palace.
"The day we have feared for so long has arrived. The Fire Nation is on our doorstep. It is with great sadness I call my family here before me, knowing well that some of these faces are about to vanish from our tribe, but they will never vanish from our hearts. Now, as we approach the battle for our existence, I call upon the great spirits. Spirit of the Ocean! Spirit of the Moon! Be with us! I'm going to need volunteers for a dangerous mission." I stood along with Sokka and Shui.
"Count me in!" We said all at the same time. Shui saw my hand clinch as ice darkened under me.
"Sokka ..."
"Kida..." Aang whispered grabbing my arm. "Stay with me please." I looked down at him then nodded softly.
"Be warned, many of you will not return." Several Water Tribe men rise and walk forward. "Come forward to receive my mark, if you accept the task." I looked to my brother and he nodded as tears slipped down my cheeks.
