Percy
"Are you ok Seaweed Brain?" Annabeth asked. Her brows were furrowed in concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I forced a smile. Except for the random guy trying to break us up.
"Perseus Jackson, I know when you're faking a smile and I know that something's wrong. What is it?" Annabeth pressed.
"It might ruin one of your friendships, and I don't want to risk you losing a friend because of me." I said.
"Percy, you are more important to me than any friend of mine, because you're my best friend. Even if all my mortal friends hated me, I wouldn't care, because I'd still have you, Seaweed Brain."
"Promise you won't do anything rash Wise Girl?" I asked. She nodded slowly. I told her everything. How Asher looked when I told him I was her boyfriend, to when he glared and mouthed 'She's mine' when we left the doors. Annabeth nodded.
"I just thought he was protective of me since we're best friends. I guess he really did have a crush on me." she sighs.
"Act normal around him okay? I don't want him hating me more than he already does," I said. She gives me a small thumbs-up. "Oh look, we're here!" The door opens and a lady walks in.
"Ah, Perseus Jackson. Our new student?" she asks. I nod.
"It's just Percy," I said awkwardly.
She hands me my schedule. "And as per your request, all your classes are the same as Ms. Chase's with the exception of your elective of Marine Biology." I smile and thank her, and Annabeth and I walk out of the office.
Kayla
I made my way to English. It wasn't my favorite class, but I did like the teacher. So, Annabeth had a boyfriend. Percy Jackson. Everyone in our world knew who he was. Asher was probably crushed.
Percy didn't know who I was, but he would soon. I sat down at my desk and waited for roll call. Just then, Percy and Annabeth burst into the classroom, panting. I glanced at Asher, whose gaze changed from relaxed to hard to a forced mask of calm.
"We're sorry we're late, we were getting Percy's schedule." said Annabeth.
"It's fine since Percy is new, but please try to make sure it won't happen again." They nodded. "Percy, since you know Annabeth, you may sit next to her. Asher, please move behind Percy." said Mrs. Pace.
Asher's hands clenched and he nodded. "Now, let's do roll call," She went through a couple names until she reached mine. "Kayla Beauregard?"
"Here."
Asher
As Annabeth spoke, Percy's gaze had drifted around the class, settling on Kayla. His eyes widened, though I didn't know why. Was he interested in her already? After a day?
I was willing to believe it was nothing, but then I saw Percy's expression change when Kayla's name was called. I knew he was a playboy! He would probably leave my poor sweet Annabeth alone, and I would be there to pick up the pieces and comfort her. Oh well, all the better for me.
The class was torture. All through class I had to watch Percy and Annabeth flirt with each other, and share idle touches. The teacher didn't even say anything, just looked at them and smiled! So unfair. Then, I noticed Percy and MY Annabeth holding hands.
My knuckles turned white as I clenched them. That was the final straw. I got up, with a pencil in hand, and accidently-on-purpose tripped and crashed to the ground. Just as I had intended, Annabeth fell out of her chair and on top of me. Annabeth froze. She definitely likes the position we're in right now. I wink at her, and instead of flirting back, her face hardened.
She pushed herself up, intentionally digging her elbow into my stomach. My face contorted in pain. Mrs. Pace, who had stopped the lesson, rushed over to my side.
"You must be more careful Asher. Percy might have gotten hurt too!" she fretted. Percy?! I'm on the ground, and all she can think about is him. Careful not to show my true emotions, I smile and nod. She sends me to the nurse's office for an icepack.
As I walk, I dwell on the unfairness of it all. I should have been the one sitting next to Annabeth. I should have been making her blush while we flirted. And I should have been the one calling her a sweet nickname. But it was fine. I would have her eventually.
She would blush when we flirted, and I would have my own nickname for her. I had one for her in my head, as a matter of fact. Amor. It meant love in Spanish, and it was beautiful, just like her. I smiled, thinking about how she would blush when I called her Amor. While I got lost in my daydream, I crashed into a locker. Scowling, I rubbed my elbow and ran to the nurse's office.
Annabeth
Ugh! I can't believe Asher! Hitting on me in front of my boyfriend, for gods sakes. Percy had been unusually quiet while this all happened. I could see the anger swirling in his sea-green eyes. I gently took his hand and rubbed small circles. The anger mostly left his eyes, replaced by a look I can only describe as the calm after a storm. What I didn't know, however, was that the storm had barely begun.
Ok, this was twice in a week! I don't know if I can keep up with my schedule next week, so have another chapter!
Leave a review, and tell me some potential scenarios!
