Jaylen knew he was about to get an earful from me. My mouth was shut. I had a scowl on my face. My arms crossed in front of my chest. Plus, I hadn't acknowledged him from the time he walked me to the dorm, to grab some clothes and necessities, and into his car.

He tried talking to me while we left the gym. Asking me if I was alright and how the game was. But I ignored him. Even did the most by walking in front of him. Zane and Kai had to pull Mona away from us, took her out for dinner, so she wouldn't witness the volcano that was about to erupt.

I was practically preparing an essay in my head on the way to his apartment. The introduction paragraph was done, mentioning an overview of all of the things I needed to know.

The body paragraphs, which included a special mention of Christopher because I was curious as to why he had said his name in a weird way. His relationship with Gabriella was the main point and that stupid contract she mentioned.

The conclusion paragraph consisted of my feelings towards the problem. I wasn't about to be dragged along just to get hung because he chose to continue with his other commitments in life. I wasn't about to be some side-chick either. It was me or none of me at all.

We got to his apartment. He carried our bags into his bedroom while I sat on the couch, staring out the window. His apartment overlooked the city. The lights glimmered against the dark blanket. I found it comforting even when I was about to lose my shit.

Jaylen sat down near me on the couch, letting out a sigh. He was getting tired of the silence. He was probably preparing himself for what was about to come. Sir, nothing will prepare you for the beast you unleashed inside me.

"Alright, Lilliana. Let's hear it," Jaylen said, crossing his legs while turning his body to face me.

My brain decided to choke on the spot, forgetting the whole ass essay I had prepared. If I had to hand in my paper, I would get a big fat zero. Everything I wanted to say was erased from my head. Okay, Lily. You got this. Just speak from your heart.

"A contract, Jaylen? Really? Don't you think that was worth mentioning?" Straight to point. Alright, Lily. If this is how you want to go.

"It isn't a contract. More like an agreement with my dad," He explained, "It's hard to explain and you wouldn't understand."

I squinted my eyes at him, "And that's not what you're gonna do. Explain, Jaylen. Or else I am finding a way home."

He ran his fingers through his hair while sighing, "My dad planned out my whole life for me. Playing basketball, him. Attending Ridgeview, him. Getting drafted by the Knicks, him as well."

"I have no choice in anything in my life. So, I had an agreement with him," I nodded, letting him know that I was listening. My fingers played with my bottom lip, anticipating what he was about to tell me.
