we ran through the alleys with the masked man."over there!" i heard one soldier shout.
"i'm calling appa!" aang said while grabbing his bison-whistle.
"that's never gonna work.." i shook my head, looking for a way to get out of their sight.
"i hope he can really hear that bison whistle!" sokka panicked a little.
we heard the footsteps of the soldiers coming near, so we all panicked a little with sokka, while aang still tried to call appa with that whistle.
"this way!" the man shouted while turning into an alley, which was a dead end "okay! not this way!"
we all turned around, seeing the soldiers blocking the exit. this is our end..
the man with the mask threw another smoke bomb, running past the guards into an other alley.
"a dead end.. again!" i panicked, shaking the mans shoulders.
right on cue, appa appeared over the wall, searching for us.
"appa! down here!!" aang shouted while waving like crazy with his arms.
appa landed between the guards and us. right when he got on the floor, he flapped with his tail, blowing the guards into an other alley. "appa! yip yip!"
we were now in the air, sitting all on appa's back. the masked man sat beside me, biting on some things.
"weird.." i said to myself. right after i said that, the man threw the thing onto the firework supplies, lighting them up.
"woah.." sokka and i stared at the firework as i saw something moving in the left corner of my eyes.
the masked man was no longer masked.
"nice touch setting off the fireworks" aang smiled at the man.
"yeah it's beautiful!"
"you seem to really know your explosives" sokka raised an eyebrow at him.
"i'm familiar" the man turned to us, making us all realize something.
"you're a fire nation soldier!" sokka said a bit shocked "my sister is one too!"
"sokka! no time for jokes" i hit him on the shoulder, making him say a small 'ow'.
"i see you both are the funny ones in your group. i was one. not anymore. my name's chey." chey smiled at us.
time skip :)
we were now sitting in a small circle around the camp fire, listening to chey.
"i serve a man. more than a man really, he's a myth, but he's real, a living legend, jeong jeong the deserter. he was a fire nation general, or wait, was he an admiral?" chey scratched his head, looking into the fire.
"he was very highly ranked, we get it" sokka rolled his eyes slightly.
"yeh! way up there! but he couldn't take the madness any more. he's the first person ever to leave the army - and live. i'm the second, but you don't get to be a legend for that. That's okay though. jeong jeong's a firebending genius. some say he's mad - but he's not! he's enlightened." chey praised his 'master', which made me smile.
"you think really high of him, huh? he must be proud" i smiled at chey, making him chuckle.
"he's complicated.."
