Marianna's POV
I walked along the rows of stones, names carved all on them. I finally reached the one I was looking for. I crouched down and laid the bouquet of roses on my mother's stone "hi mama. We all miss you, papa most of all. He's not doing too well, I miss you so much. I got into the architecture program at Columbia"
"I'm sorry miss, did you say architecture?" I looked over and saw a man, he was hunched over and walking with a cane. He had silver hair with these amazing sea-green eyes, eyes I had never seen before.
"Yes" I smiled
"I don't mean to intrude, I came here to see my wife, she loved architecture" his eyes seemed sad, but he had a smile on his face
"How long were you two married?" I asked
He began to shake. I helped him over to the bench by my mother's grave. He sat down "70 years" he smiled looking at the gold band on his left hand
"70 years!" I was shocked
He chuckled "we went through everything together. She passed a few years ago" he smiled again.
I sat down next to him "Can you tell me about her?" I asked
He nodded "she had the most beautiful blonde hair and the deepest grey eyes. I had never seen anyone like her till that night"
Flashback, April 10th, 1912
I held my mother's hand as we boarded the ship. She was a frail woman for her age. She had gotten sick before my father died and when the tickets for the titanic came, we had all decided to go together to get her medical help. Sadly my father had died a few days ago.
We boarded onto the ship and found our room. All our stuff was taken to our room and I helped my mother to lay down.
"Thank you Percy" she smiled weakly
"I'll be back soon mother, have a nap, you'll feel better" I reassured, I wasn't sure who I was reassuring, her or myself.
I walked out of her room, my hands in my pockets and headed up to the first-class deck. I stood and enjoyed the bustle of everyone as the boat floated in the water. The breeze was beautiful, I looked up towards the upper deck and saw the most beautiful girl ever
She was dressed in a beautiful greyish blue dress with a beige shall wrapped around her shoulders. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a bun, small little curls hung around her face, she wore a white hat on her head with flowers along the brim. I smiled, knowing I had never seen such beauty.
I had spent the next two days taking care of my mother as well as trying to get the girl's attention. Finally one day I was sitting on one of the benches staring out at the water, sketching the view on my pad of paper.
She walked up behind me "they're beautiful" she said, I looked back and saw her. She sat down next to me "may I see them?" she asked. I nodded and handed her my book. She flipped through all the drawings, she smiled at all the sketches "who's this woman?" she asked. I looked at the picture she was looking at
"That's my mother and father on their wedding day. My grandmother had given me a picture of them. I sketched it for my mother after my father died" I smiled
"I'm sorry to hear that, did he die peacefully?" she asked
"No, he was a fisher, his shipwrecked one day in a storm. One of his sailors said he died heroically trying to save the other sailors" I smiled
We spent the next two days talking and laughing, getting to know each other and slowly falling in love. My mother and I ate with her family each night, discussing our lives and everything
