Chapter Three

Kira led the group into the woods once again and we settled in for the night.  There wasn't a sound to be heard. We all laid down in our tents to sleep for the night.

Around midnight, I heard a noise that caused me to wake. I unzipped the tent, climbing over Kira. I stepped into the cool night and pulled on my coat and boots. I looked around suspiciously and walked towards the other tents. Someone shuffled inside Cory and Lukas' tent. The tent unzipped and a sleepy looking Lukas appeared. "Sammi?" he said znd shivered. "Go back to bed. You're dreaming," I whispered in a soothing voice. A few minutes later, Lukas was back in his tent, asleep.

I sighed in relief and walked towards the trees that surrounded a small pond. I sat on a log and looked at the still water.  "Hello, Sammi," a voice said from behind me. I whipped around to see Kira standing behind me, looking like she'd been awake for hours. "Kira, you scared me," I said, putting my hand on my chest. "What are you doing out here?" she asked, ignoring my remark.  "I heard something. Did I wake you?" I asked.  "What did you hear?" Kira asked, sitting beside me. "And, duh, you woke me up." I shook my head. "Nevermind," I said and shrugged.

"Don't pull this crap with me," Kira said. "Fine," I said.  "It sounded like a creaky door. Then, a whisper," I said.  "Shit," Kira mumbled. "What?" I asked, tilting my head. "Elemental hunters. They were here," she said, standing.  "We need to get out of here," I said.

Together, we headed back to the tents and woke everyone up. "C'mon, guys.  We gotta go," I said to Cory and Lukas. Quickly,  they got out of the tent and starting taking it down. I mounted Horizon and walked her over to Bleu, who was sitting atop her horse, Romeo. "Do you know what's going on?" Bleu asked. I nodded and said,  "Elemental hunters," I whispered. "Oh," she said and played with the ends of her straight hair.

"Let's go," Kira said and walked Chesney ahead of us. Bleu pulled up beside Kira, leaving Lukas beside me, followed by Cory. We trotted our horses out of the woods and back onto the dirt path. 

"I hate these people, " Bleu mumbled.

A/N:

Sorry it's so short guys... and also, one curse word. Sorry if that upset anyone. I won't really curse a lot in this book. A few times, sure, but not constantly. Chapter Four, comimg tomorrow! Oh, also, I'm starting a new thing in my author's note part: Book of the Day. So, today's book of the day is: Quest by @enchanted_writings
