twenty six

--Techno's POV--

after tommy had left and i regained my confidence, i left the flat

minx was waiting outside in her terribly old car, i waved slightly to her before getting in

"hey technoblade!" she addressed me, too cheerfully for me to care

"hi" i replied, not wanting to have a conversation right now

she started the car, which took a couple attempts, and then we were off

the drive took about an hour, it always does

the entire time i stared out the window, trying to catch a glimpse of my ghostly brother, i wanted to see his grinning face flying past the window, i wanted to catch his reflection in the wing mirror, i just wanted to see him

i didn't

he didn't fly past the window, he didn't show up in the mirror, he didn't show up

until i got to the orphanage

during the journey minx had only broken the sad silence once, she asked me how wilbur was, i ignored her and the pain that washed over me as she mentioned his name, she only looked at me, confused, when she noticed my silence

i had been there for about twenty or so minutes before i caught sight of him, he was standing against the wall, a translucent guitar, pale brown undertones with a grey dusting, the black band around the back of his neck and the body of the guitar resting in his pale hands

he brought one of his hands away from the instrument and waved at me happily

i grinned back at him

before i went to talk to him, i helped the five-year old who was in front of me

i picked out some new clothes for her, since she fell in the mud, i chose out a cute grey dress with embroidered roses on with some white socks and red shoes, as i knelt down to speak to her i ruffled her wavy blonde hair

"how about i challenge you hm?"

"to do what techo?!" she squeaked, excitedly 

"how quick can you get dressed?" i said, grinning at the small girl as i handed her the folded clothes

her eyes lit up as she ran out of the room to get changed

i chuckled at her, standing back up and turning to wil

i grinned at him

he grinned back at me

he was here

then i remembered that he left me earlier and my face dropped

he looked concerned, i looked in at his eyes to see a slight grey fog cloud over them

i decided to be brave and ask him why,

"why did you leave me earlier?" i asked, stepping towards him gently

"oh! tommy scared me, i'm sorry techno." he replied, in his usual cheery-ghost voice

"oh, okay" i responded, smiling again

"do you want to hear a song?" he asked, nodding down to the guitar in his arms

i remembered the last time he played a song for me, my hand subconsciously drifted to my hair, i had taken the plat out a while ago and now it was in a scraggly bun so the kids couldn't grab it

he watched at my hand went to my hair

his face shifted into a sad expression, his eyes a royal blue, pupil's shining white

i snapped out of my thoughts and focused back on him, i nodded eagerly which made his mouth turn back into a grin

i sat back down on the floor and rested my back on the chest of draws as he begun to play

i recognised the song, it was one of the first ones he played for me

i listened, humming along quietly as the notes filled my head

the song was nearing the end when the little girl came running back into the room

the song quickly halted as i stood up and picked her up

"hmm, you did an amazing job! well done nikki! i'm proud of you!" i said, grinning at her

"spin!" she yelped, as she grinned back

i smiled at her before i started turning, the kids loved this, i would pick them up and spin them round, and round, and round, until we both got too dizzy to stand

she squealed excitedly as she spun around the room, the colours of the walls blurring into one

at every rotation i caught wilbur smiling at me, my mind flashed back to when wilbur would be the one in my arms, us spinning until we'd collapse, giggling loudly as we rolled on the floor, trying to get our eyes to focus on something

i gently stopped spinning as i set her down, i watched her wobble around carefully until she eventually fell onto the floor

she looked up to me with her big brown eyes as she grinned

i looked back down at her, smiling back before i looked over at the corner to wilbur,

he was grinning too
